Just got my 70-200 f4 L USM

thanks guys i try some shots in doors to test it out but the shutter speed was very slow unless i turn the iso up to 1600 hope to try it out out doors the week end

Could not wait till the weekend so here is a couple of pic. I had to set the iso to 1600 to get a good shutter speed

looks like this is going to be fun in a good light :)

All the pictures are fairly soft, did you use a tripod to take the photos or did you hand hold them? If you hand held them then that will explain why the images come accross as being soft, because of the poor shutter speeds and handshake :)

I thought the f4 was basically the same size/same chassis as the f2.8 & IS ? my IS weighs an absolute ton :)

F2.8IS is 197mm X 86mm and 1570 grammes
F4 is 172mm X 76mm and 705g

according to canon website anyway.

i just got a new lens, 70-300m is usm, is 300mm at 1/30sec too slow, taking pictures of deers seemed rather soft?

Congratulations on the new lens !

Yes, 300mm at 1/30 is much too slow, with IS enabled you shouldn't be going slower than 1/125 when taking photos of moving stuff.
