Hey,

I have updated to that firmware :)

I have not touched any settings, its running ok and better than my talk talk router already.

Its been a few days now and these are the current stats

Parameters
DSP Firmware Version A2pB025f.d22k
DMT Status No Defect
Operational Mode ADSL2+
Upstream 1018
Downstream 16379
SNR Margin(Upstream) 14.1
SNR Margin(Downstream) 10.9
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 10.2
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 19.0

I still havent changed anything, anyone give any advice to increase speed?

It would be good to see the errors to see how your line is doing. Telnet into the router and type in "adsl info --stats" and paste all the information here.

Hi i used putty and got this, if this isnt correct could you explain how to telnet

You typed in "adsl info" and no "adsl info --stats". If you type that in it will give more information.

Ok done as you suggested, thanks for the help so far ;)

Ok i have input 50 into the SNR tweak that has lowered the SNR to 3.3.

Are there any other tweaks, recommendations?

You're getting a lot of errors. Have you tried connecting to the test socket to see if the errors improve?

Hi,

I only have one Master socket entering the house and the router is connected to that.

It doesn not have a filter and a lot of the wires are exposed. I have a new ADSL filter that i will be fitting.

Will that reduce the errors?

thanks for helping me with this mate :)

I have purchased a new ADSL 1.0 filter and cable.

I would ideally like to extend the BT drop cable but im not totally sure how to go about this and if i MUST have the master socket connected directly into the DROP LINE that enters the house.

You can see from this photo the black cable coming into the house is the BT DROP LINE. It enters a junction box which is a mess as my last builder knocked it off the wall.

A cable then extends out of the junction box into the faceplate.

Faceplate, "i think i was incorrect previous, it is filtered".

You need to get BT out to do some major works on the wiring coming into your house, you MUST not touch the drop wire! The wiring is almost certainly causing the problems.

By the way, is your master socket attached to a wall or is it just sitting on something? If it is the former it is incorrectly setup.

Basically, get BT out!

Hi

The master socket is loose, the wiring is all exposed etc. The wiring in the house is old

Will BT fix the wiring past the drop line, ie relocate my Master socket? Or will they only fix another junction box to the drop line?

They will fix all of the wiring up to the master socket, but not the extension wiring. If you ask nicely they will probably relocate the master socket for you.

You need to ring up and tell them that the BT wiring is in poor condition and that it needs to be updated and replaced. It is BT's job to do this.

ok ive had a new MAster socket fitted.

Here are the new stats.
