4gb(4x1gb) ballistix 5300c3

Not overclocked a c2d before, went into the bios, changed the fsb to 1337 ^^ and it was fine, rebooted and changed to 1600 and it booted fine.

Now on [email protected]
4gb of ram at 800mhz linked synchronous
asus p5ne-sli
according to everest my temps are around 40 idle with a noctua

I will tweak it properly tomorrow as i have the voltage settings on "auto" which is at 1.4v vcore and give it a proper stress test too

God these c2ds are pie to clock :D

edit:

using "core temp" my cores are idling at 35c
its also listing v at 1.3375 hrm... which is right ??
ah well i was only messing about tonight anyway, the fun begins tomorrow!

edit:

Any reccomendations on bios settings?

Yeh they are extremely easy to clock i dialed in 1200FSB instantly overclocked itself nicely with no trouble at all.

Im gonna push it up to your settings tonight then keep going slowly till i get maybe to 3.8-4.0.

Also considering im using pc5300 Crucial i can push that to 1000-1100 at tight timings of 4.4.4.12 quite easily.

Its a great combo.

is it better to run the ram on a divider with tighter timings or just go for the extra mhz?

Raw MHz is usually the biggest factor so I would get your RAM as fast as possible then go on to tightening up the timings.

Thought id just do a quick reply and say:

Managed to get it perfectly stable at only 3.26ghz mem at 800mhz unlinked, hits 51c max on full load and idles at 30c

If i go any higher it tends to artifact (only one tiny one) on the screen and just freeze. I'm pretty sure my components have probably reached their limit but saying that ive also heard p5ne-slis dont work too well with 4gb of ram!
