Mid spec 15 inch model.

Wow. Just Wow.

The unit itself is refined and beautiful, it's like the Aston Martin of the computing world. The performance is incredible and Mac OSX just makes sense. I can't believe how much it can do simultaneously without crashing.

I have just a few questions:

1) I want to buy Windows to instal. Am I better off using Bootcamp or Parralells? Which has best compatibility? Can I instal any version of Windows?

2) What is the equivalent of right click, for deleting/renaming files etc. I've spelt Parralells wrong above and it's being underlined in red but i have no idea how to correct it!

3) Are there any decent programmes that work with iTunes to fetch album artwork? I've just added all 10,000 of my songs and the iTunes artwork thing hasn't done a great job.

4) Do I need Firewall/Anti-Virus software?

Cheers

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

Due to the nature of Finder, is there any way you can hide personal documents in a folder and lock/password it?

Wush, my old laptop was fairly powerful in its day (over 2 years old and Intel Core Due T7300) but still had a tendency to crash when stretched to its limit.

1) If you can cope with rebooting I would use Bootcamp. I was using Vista Ultimate 32bit for ages on my MacBook and it worked fine.

2) As mentioned. The spelling is Parallel.

4) Yes. Enable the firewall and I would also recommend turning off the "open safe files after downloading" setting in Safari which is a joke. Antivirus... you will most likely get away without at this point in time but never say never.

Noted. Thanks mate, turned off. Does indeed seem ridiculous.

Hi,

What are you planning to do with your MBP as I am thinking or purchasing one and which CPU did you get is it the 2.66?

I got:

2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
320GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display
Backlit Keyboard (English) / User's Guide
9400M and 9600M GT with 256MB.

To be honest mate most of the time work/facebook/music. I occasionally make websites for a small fee (will need to look at a decent Mac alternative to Front Page) and am involved with some amateur film making now and again, but mostly making memorable vids for uni trips. Will be looking into Final Cut Pro as a transition from Vegas. Do basic Photoshop work too.

It's incredible with most stuff although it struggled with the Doom 3 demo, I didn't buy it for gaming though so can't complain.

Two great solutions. Thanks guys.

I'll stick with the encrypted disc image as it's easier. I just don't want my uni friends ****ing about and accessing personal stuff.
