HI all, Just got my N310 from work and I have gathered all my files for work on my main PC 'This one' the file size is around 40gig and i dont really want to have to buy an external HD just for one copy over.

So i was wondering if some one could either link me to a guide or give me a simple enough explination on how to swap folders over a network. The pc with the folder on is wired, and the netbook is on wireless.

Thanks in Advance.

Adam.

First, I would connect both by wires to your router for better speed.

Second, setup if you havnt already your network for home.

Third, share the folders you want to transfer.

Fourth, find other computer in your network places and transfer the shared folder.

Ok...i can see both computers from both sides, yet when i click on my main PC on my laptop it asks for a password, i didnt have one so i have set one up on my Main computer, i tired to access, still wont let me in. Any ideas. Thanks.

what OS's you using on both pc's ?

short term solution, is try the other way around

see if you can see pc2 from pc1 , if you can transfer the file

do both PC's have a user account with a password on it?

XP (and actually most versions of windows, at least all the current ones) will error if you try to log into a network drive etc with a blank password.

Might be worth while checking this is setup first, then when it prompts you again, just type in the user information for that pc. e.g.

PC1 username: user1, password: pass1

PC2 username:user2, password: pass2

Connect to PC1 from PC2, it prompts for a password, you give it the username of PC1 (so user1 and pass1)

lol my descriptions suck :p

i mean that when it prompts you for a username and password, type in the login details of the other pc (the one your not using)

lol ideally you probably should set passwords on them if nothing else for a little bit more security, though you can always set it to auto logon with a password. that might suit your needs better plus still allow you to connect to network shares
