Just got Oblivion

All about how you want to play the game really.

This link may help you decide though. Link It'll give you an idea how the character can turn out.

Well I chose the Khajiit. These dungeons are scary! I scare easy in games but not in movies! Maybe cause i'm the one invlolved. But so far so good, oh, when you kill something and click your activate button, it comes up with what you can pickup X/200, am I right in guessing there's 200 things you can pickup?

I would guess 200 is the maximum weight allowances you can carry. When I finish a level I do the god mode (unlimited carrying potential) pickup lots of stuff, then head back to town and sell it off. Faster than pickip up 5 heavy armour breastplates, back to town, back in the cavern etc etc.

How the hell do you drop stuff then, i've just exceeded my limit. Now on 2009/200. Need to offload stuff bigtime, what a waste of time picking up skeleton bones!

Don't pick up crap. Just weapons and expensive looking armour. If you don't plan to wear or sell something, don't carry it!

As you progress you can carry more and more and armour takes up less weight if you are wearing it.

It is probably too late to mention it now, but you should only choose skills you rarely use as your main skills. This is because it is too easy to level up with your primary skills and be crap in just about everything else. Not good when your enemies level up with you.

Stuff like acrobatics, sneak, athletics and so forth should be minor skills. You use these without fail all the time. Use em enough as main skills and you will be leveling up every five minutes which is bad.

My method of dispaching enemies..

Approach from some distance, let off as many arrows as possible . Then change to sword/shield and finish them off. If they're tougher walk backwards as you shoot arrows that'll give you more time to shoot a couple more arrows off.

Phew, i'm outta the sewers and into this amazing world. It's running really well at 1280x1024, HDR+AA, long distance stuff and what not, really great looking!

I would install the following mods (makes it even nicer looking)

BTMOD (reduces the font size, default is too big even on high rez)
No more annoying messages (gets rid of "loading")
Callsteed & Saddlebags- allows you to place items on the horse.
Better night sky- replaces nebula and moon
Crowded roads- roads better towns have people on them.
Anvil open city- gates are open, walk into the town without the brownish loading screen
Tamriel VWD- view city from distance
4096 LOD- replaces land textures with higher resolution ones, removes checkerboard look
Natural Enviroments, more improvements to the game- wheather, insects, birds, trees, grass.
Oblivion cats- towns and wilderness have a few cats dotted around walking about. :)

Hehe, yup, its a great game. Don't make the mistake I made though and do everything as fast as you can, take your time. Now I've done everything I've lost a lot of interest. :(

I've just got that amulet from the Goblin boss in those mines, do I now just get out the way I came in?

The what? I haven't got a clue where you are. The red marker on your compass thing at the bottom of the screen will point you to the exit. Or, hit tab and look at the map for the redmarker (the location map not the world map)

i clocked up over 120 in game hours before i started to get a bit bored of it. still not finished the main storyline by then, but i'm taking a break from it for a while now. i will go back and finish it eventually though.

be warned, it will take over your life.

:)
