As title. I wanted to start saving on space, etc and cut down on the amp and speakers/sub which were taking up a lot of space, so I thought I'd give these a go. First impressions visually are that they're very nicely put together with a pretty "piano black" facia panel. Size wise they're a bit bigger than the creative gigaworks T2.0 (which I have a pair doing the sound on me samsung "32" lcd tv) and they're quite weighty as well, especially the one with the amplifier in it. Incidentally, the box they come is really nice, lifts apart top to bottom.
Software loading is a breeze, and the lcd features, which I found can be distracting, can be turned off in not needed. I personally think this display is a total waste of time meself, it shows stuff like ram and cpu performance, clock, date and time and media settings. the touch sensitive controls are a pure gimmick if you ask me, I'd rather have good old rotary knobs, but other ppl might like this feature.
Which lastly leaves what they sound like which is exceptional to say the least considering the size of the enclosures. they effectively leave the creative gigaworks T20 standing. the midrange and treble is very nice and defined and presents a greater degree of information than a lot of other speakers, quality 2.1 setups incuded. They also go pretty loud too without distorting, loud enough me at any rate. Lastly is the bass output, which also exceptional to say the least and with some music (mainly latter day stuff like contemporary pop) I've had to reduce the bass level from default!
Sonically, the speakers are extremely impressive indeed, especially in the mid/treble ranges, and i think most ppl would be very pleased owning a pair. Would I recommend them, yes and no.
Yes for the build quality and the sound output.
No for the lcd display which I belive pushes the retail price up and contributes naff all to the overall sound quality.
Am I personally happy with them? yes due to the sound quality alone.

Nice review m8, thx for takin the time to bung one together. A quick question (Im looking for some new sound hee hee):

I use headphones a lot. Does plugging in phones into these X-10s disable the speakers?

I ask because I bought some Logitech X-230 2 months ago and they had that irritating feauture - when I plugged in the phones the speakers went dead and all sound-control had to be done from the sound-card. I promptly returned them as double clicking on the speaker icon and fiddling around with the sliders was NOT ON while in the middle of Ghost Recon :o

Im still using my old speakers (X-120) which *do not* cut out with phones:
