Just had a call from a '3G' chap..

Righto, im on a contract with Three, and have been for about 11 months now of my 18 month contract..

So i get a call from a random chap [always puts me on to defense mode] who claims to be from Three. He says ive been selected by head office to take advtange of some offer (which lasts 48 hours) whereby i can pretty much get what im getting now for half price. Now im thinking, ok, this could be real.. but then he starts to go on about free web stuff and video and all this other carp that i dont need and im thinking.. he's trying to make it sound too good to be true [so i tighten my defenses further]. So now he's goin to ring back tmrw at 12.00pm because i wouldnt commit to anything and he has my surname.. [now if he was from my phone provider wouldnt he have my name?]. He didnt sound too enthusiastic about my surname though, which is Smith.. i think he thought i was wasting his time.

Anyone got a take on this? Scam? Just some other company trying to get my money? Im not near finishing my Three contract, but understand i can change it with them...

I wouldnt have really listened to much but i have been planning recently to try and downgrade my package to one with less minutes..

I say take him up on the offer. If he then asks for your bank account details or debit/credit card details tell him to F.O. as '3' already have your details for your monthly direct debit (assuming thats how you pay).

We get people ringing up asking us if we want a free phone. They soon get bored when you tell them you just want the free phone, not the contract

We get people calling us up all the time, trying to upgrade the company orange phones! (thats phones owned by orange!)
We give em the right run around and when they type the number to try upgrade it, it just says "Error Staff account" which i just respond "surely you would have known that to start IF you were calling from orange

I've had these calls before, but once they didn't hide their number. So I saved it and hassled them once in a while when I felt bored
