Just had an accident

LOL! I wasn't saying the posts are photoshopped, just that they look it.

Anyway, it must all be fake as there are no turkey sandwiches or Pringles or whatever in the pics.

I reckon you ought to use the money you recoup to buy a nice MR2 Turbo.

or i could use it to pay off my car so i don't have the debt then free to get what ever i can afford from savings afterwards?

even though i probably won't be able to get insured on anything faster than a moped.

Ah right, so they twisted it when they pulled it out then :) Fair enough

No it looks to me like it twisted round as he went into the ditch last night not when they pulled it out this morning, (could be wrong though).

It's all to do with the forward momentum of the vehicle as the rollover initiates, and as it looks like a classic "soft ditch rollover", started as the left front wheel went off the road first into the rough stuff, it means the rollover would end up with the car lying on it's roof somewhere between 90 degrees to the road or opposite to the the way it had just been going.

Damage looks consistant with a rollover at approx 30-35 so I guess a bit of brakeing occured before the rollover started.

Glad you seem ok though, it is not nice thing to go through, I have had a few on track here at Millbrook, and even with full harness you do get a good back ache for a few days.

It's a lease isn't it?

I'm not sure, I only really noticed him when he was 'sacked' and I tried to point out what a stupid idea it was to sell it with it being worth so much less than the value of the car, similar to this situation as it happens.

He didn't say in that thread that it was on lease, although I've learnt to take pretty every post by him with suitable quantities of salt.

Or are you making a point about a car on finance not being yours until the finance is paid off?

I'd of done what you did, ditched it. I'd rather have a 40mph impact in to a ditch on my passenger side, rather than a possible 80mph+ impact speed on the drivers side.

I'm glad your OK, it looks a nasty one. As said earlier in the thread, get back driving on the road and try to block out them horrible crunching noises of broken glass and metal out of your head. Hopefully your back will be ok in a few days.

Did any airbags go off btw?

I don't know what I'd do in the situation as I don't know how well my car would hold together in a roll, especially being a convertible, although the roll bar thing looks quite strong.

Sorry don't mean to bang on about this but what is causing all the traffic to be travelling on the opposite carriageway? Are there temprary traffic lights or something? I can see the breakdown truck is on the left side so what is the obstruction on the right? Is this what caused the car to be on the opposite carriageway?

Possibly temperary traffic lights were used whilst the car was brought out of the ditch. (possibly took a while to get it out).

ok that tarmac you see there is the road i came off of. thats how small the road is. theres no opposite carridgeway. that road is a two way road. that orange bit in the bottom right hand corner is the recovery truck that is stopping all the traffic

I live IN the country, have done all my life. For the past 4.5 years of being on the road I have had many vehicles on my side of the road. Mainly due to people under estimating the speed of a bend and taking them too fast on their way home from the pub in their 4x4 loaded with understeer.

I've been lucky to avoid a lot of accidents. My reation is to stop, rather than swerve, but it depends on the proximity of the oncoming vehicle. Also, following some people who I have caught up to. They immediately assume I want to carry on at the speed I approached and do the whole "I'll swing out to the right a bit before I take a sharp left to look fast". I hate that. Some people try too hard.

So how was he on the 'wrong side' if there is no opposite carriageway and the road is so narrow that the truck passing the scene pretty much takes it all up?

Knew this wouldnt quite be as it was first explained :(
