I've had the Sony KD-55XD8005 for about 6 months when it developed a minor fault (wouldn't turn on occasionally needing a power-cycle or even coming on randomly) - not huge problems but needed addressing so John Lewis arranged for a local contractor to come and replace the main board.

Anyway, they have been today and all seems OK so far, except for that when I go to the "Info" button on the TV, the model number in the top right hand side now shows the TV as being a "KD-49XD8305" !?!?

I appreciate that all these sets probably have the same or very similar main boards but should I be going back to John Lewis or the contractor to see what the score is??

Good new is you now have a higher model so may have more functions, bad news you now have black bars around all your movies and TV shows. :p

I had exactly the same issue with John Lewis (well the 3rd party they use for repairs) when they swapped my main board for a 43” version (to my 55” tv). Apart from the name being different in the menu it doesn’t seem to be any different. Frustrating though as I would have expected an identical replacement, not some bodge.
