Just have mod2 left, passed mod 1.

Couple of quick questions please ..

1) I did all the slow manouvering, the emergency braking, the U-turns at the MOD1. Does that mean I won't have to do any at the MOD2 - just ride around not doing anything specific?

2) If I am in a traffic jam, am I expected to go down the middle of the road of ignore it, or just sit like a plum in the traffic?

3) I have heard the person following me could be in a car. Does this mean I shouldn't use bus-lanes as I'll lose him?

4) Is it basically -Just ride where I tell you for 45 minutes' and that's it? Is is easy compared to MOD1?

Thanks in advance,

Britters.

Congrats :)

1) Correct. Mod 2 should be a pleasant 40 minute ride with no stops. Pretty much, from the time you set off to the time you get back, your right foot shouldn't touch the ground. If you're good (and lucky), neither foot should touch the ground :p

2) My understanding was that you should only filter if it's blindingly obvious that you should and that it's 100% safe. If there's *any* doubt whatsoever, wait.

3) Ride for yourself. Don't worry about losing them. They want to see you riding positively, so if (for example) you're coming out of a junction and there's a safe gap for you, go for it. Don't worry about finding a safe gap for both of you. Similarly with bus lanes - if you think it's appropriate to go in the bus lane, just do it. Let the examiner figure it out.

4) Yes. It's a piece of cake. I passed with 3 minors (none of which actually my fault - long story) and the chap I was with would have passed, except he went straight through a stop sign. You've got to do something fairly silly to get a major. Just remember that little annoying things like leaving your indicators on can pick up a major (if you go past a junction).

I'm told that the standard they see on a day-to-day basis is rather variable, and that the bar's actually quite low. Just relax, remember to make your observations, be sensible and it'll be over in no time :)

I was told to do an angle start on my MOD 2. Pull up behind a parked car and then move off again doing all appropriate checks. Not entirely sure if this is at the discretion of the examiner or a set manoeuvre on the MOD 2. That's the only stop/slow manoeuvre you will do on it.

Hey im in the same boat, Mod2 next week after passing mod1 3 weeks ago

Having to wait 4 weeks for each test is a killer :(

(And I did mod1 on a cg125, will be the same next week!)

How did you find getting up to 32 mph on the 125s? Thats the only thing I worry about!

Just make sure you don't go into 3rd gear. Don't be afraid to really open it up in 2nd because you pretty much have to. To make matters worse I did my MOD 1 on an uphill gradient, but I still managed to clock 59 km/h on my emergency stop and 58 km/h on my swerve(around 36 mph).

first gear, rake it
second gear, rake it
third gear just at the speed trap and shut off the throttle

I had a 125 for a while (4t too) so was pretty used to it..!

No no! If anything just hit the redline in second, the engine braking will help you massively.

May i ask you OP what bike did you do the Mod1 on?

This is going to sound unbelievable but I don't know.

I know it was a Yamaha. I know it was 600cc. And I know it was NOT a fazer.

Thats about it!

Yea the swerve was the hardest bit not because it was technically hard, but because you really had to crank the bike open to get it up to speed, where your natural inclination is to take it easy as you're about to swerve!

I can honestly say the swerve itself is so easy.
The slowing down was no prob either if you can use both brakes properly

As said, the hardest bit is making sure youre going atleast 32mph by the speed trap.. I stuck to 35 to be safe.

0 minors for mod1 done in a rain shower :(

If youve any riding experience the only hard part will be remembering the checks and being sure the use the rear brake

I failed MOD1 for not listening enough and not stopping my front wheel IN the blue box, I stopped in the blue box with the front wheel out, Instant fail, listen listen and listen, watch some you tube videos
