friend from work just brought a pc for his son
he wanted a desktop rather than a laptop as they are better for games!
cost over 600 pounds core 2 duo but with a x1650 se in it which is oem only.
no infomation on it at all (google) all the older se chips had only a 64 bit bus
does this mean it will only run at half the speed of a x1650 ?
no idea of the clock speeds.
it has a 19 inch widescreen monitor to drive so will it be a disaster framerate wise?

Well it has the 'se' tag which supposed to mean special edition, but really means s*** edition. Really though It'd be a really crap card.

yes it will, sadly. if you spend £600 on a pc with a cpu of that spec, expect cuts in other areas, and it'll always be the graphics card. it will crawl, unfortunately.

I actually think it would probably be slower than a 7300GT, as the X1600 range (not including the X1650XT) are a very poor set of cards.

You are right, it's very hard to find information on. It looks like HP and Packard Bell are using them from what I've found. It looks like they're all 512MB cards with DVI, but that's all I've found. If I come up with anything else I'll let you know.
