How good is this build compared to you top end guys?
And what would you change in todays top end stuff?

Q6600 will serve you a lot better, dunno about your mobo either for that matter - likely an Abit IP35-Pro would do you better.

the q6600 will reach 3ghz or more with the MB i suggest.
a single 8800GTX is enough for most things.
1000W psus are overkill, the HX520 will run the system i speced fine.
i dont know about W/C so my spec is based upon air cooling.
the raptors in raid 0 on his spec should be faster then the single 7200.11 in mine.

Is the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 7.1 Sound Card really needed for a system or can i just use onboard sound from mobo?

Sound to me is not as important as say the graphics
