Just installed GTS 640

Sounds to low to me, im all stock and i get over 9k, everything set to performance in the drivers, and AA/AF set to Let the Application Decide.

I tried overclocking the card to 600/850 & 3dmark06 crashed the computer so I took the easy option of going to bed. Do GPU's generally need a burn in period before you can overclock its pants off?

Think I need to rebuild have gone from 7800gt - x1900xt - 8800GTS in the last 2 months. Will fiddle tonight

:O i have 640mb clocked at 690/1050 and i can't get above 9k :( what's the rest of your rig?....i havn't o/ced my cpu though

what drivers you got aswell?

His score is high because of Quad Core, higher CPU score = big effect on the overall score. (Quad is like double the score that a Dual core would get, which makes sense)

Compare the SM2/SM3+HDR score with yours instead, otherwise it's not really a decent way to compare.

spec in sig
running ram 1:1
xp home
163.18 drivers

think the quad running at 3.2 helps cos i was only getting 10859 with my e6600

With my 8800 gts 640mb (at stock), E6300 at stock and running 158.22 drivers, I was getting around 7850. I have since overclocked the cpu to around 2.4ghz (Am only an overclocking noob, so didn't want to break anything!) and now get around the 8500 mark.

I would say though that the score is a bit low. Then again, I think my score is a bit low as well!

But the card runs everything that I throw at it, so I am not too bothered by the scores!

I got just under 9700 with the card at 650/1000, pretty sure if I were to rebuild I would easily break the 10k mark. Temp hit 77c after a run 3dmark & is now on 67c idle, do those temps seem right?

well as i said mine's clocked at 690/1050 and atm mine is 50 oC idle and have seen it hit around 70 odd if i play games for long time. so that seems fine imo

Surely that means mine are very high its clocked lower then yours & is 67c idle.

edit Just done some googling & lots of things saying normal temps are anywhere from 50 - 70 when idle so I guess we are both right. Iam currently running ATItool scanning for artifacts & temp is at 85c

That does seem quite high. Currently idling at 56c here and a few hours of gaming tops out at 70c.

Maybe it's a bit toasty in your case.

Are you controlling the fan at all? It just sits as 60% at default.
