Just installed GTX 970, need advice

You should be fine, if you are worried then get a small peice of foam and place between the cable and heatsink.
 
Yep the cable will be rated to 105c as a minimum at a educated guess, unless its a cheap chineese import psu. If you melt the cable on that heat pipe its becuase the gpu is on fire !

Seriously its no where near hot enough to do anything to that cable.
