Hey guys. Just installed Ubuntu 9.04, and it's working fine so far. However I have my LCD TV (Panasonic TX-32LMD70) connected via DVI to HDMI and while it works, I'm locked into 1280x720 resolution. I mostly use the TV to watch videos in full screen, but when I do this (using SMPlayer on Ubuntu) the video is zoomed in and the edges are cut off. Is this because the TV is 1366x768, and I'm set at 1280x720?

Is there a way for me to force the resolution to 1366x768, or perhaps make SMPlayer scale it so it doesn't cut off the edges in full screen mode?

My video card is a X1950 Pro 512MB. I haven't actually installed any video drivers myself, I'm just using the ones that came installed with it. If I search "ati" in Synaptic, these drivers appear to be installed:

xserver-xorg-video-radeon
Version 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu2

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

use the restricted drives manager (top left of screen, system-->administration-->Hardware Drivers [or restricted drivers manager] and add the ati one if it isnt already, might make some more resolutions available)

though on 9.04 support for a lot of ati cards shifted to the open source drivers so there might not be a restricted binary for you :(
