EDIT - i sorted it out! Read on another forum about asimilar problem with the same network chip - the cure was to turn it off at the mains, turn it back on and windows recognised it. After like 10 reboots, what i actually needed to do was turn all power off. a bit weird, but hey, its working :D

Hi,
I just installed xp pro sp1 on a asrock p45de motherboard.

All seems fine - but i can't get it on my network.

Nothing is showing up in device manager under network adaptors. I've restarted loads of times too.

I've run the disk that came with the mobo, clicked install all drivers - that did nothing. I browsed the cd and found /drivers/LAN/REALTEK/XP64_XP_2k(5708) and run the setup from there, but that hasn't done anything. The only thing i noticed, is when i completed the setup for the lan driver, it said "please shutdown and plug realtek pcie card to complete the installation" but it isn't a separate pcie card - the port is next to the on board audio/usb/mouse/etc.

Any ideas? i've checked in the bios, and it is deff set to enabled

edit- oh also under device manager, the only things with a ? are: PCI Device (i assume my sound card), video controller, video controller (VGA Compatible). I guess it might be seeing the onboard network adaptor as a pci device, but im 99% sure its my sound card (a creative one IIRC)
