well, nice day in north norfolk, I took the 70-200 f2.8 out for some photography.
I noticed the zoom ring felt a bit stiffer than normal. I looked at it more closely and noticed it makes a grinding sound when you move it.

looked in the lens and found halfway down is this all the way round the zoom ring element, also there are a few flakes (like dust particles but bigger) on the actually element its self, this was noticed when I looked through the back of the lens at 200mm.

there are more on the zoom element but the camera wouldnt autofocus on them.
any Idea what this is? the lens is just over a month old should I return it to the like argos but for cameras shop?

thanks for the help!

it is also not the front element because the Iphone was pushed as close as I could get it to the front.

btw the iphone 4s camera which I borrowed to take these is an awesome camera

I'd definitely take it back. You'll only end up paying for it to be cleaned. Might aswell just get a replacement under warranty.

Absolutely no idea. I've never had that problem with my 70-200 F4. I'm assuming (at a total guess) something is damaged that is causing bits to drop inside?

No idea really, sorry :(
