I was on Tiscali, but am now on AOL, was transferred today :)

I have done the bandwidth test on ADSLGuide, and get low results, (around 11pm i did this)

Was on 2mb, but now am on 8 ...

my DG834G says i have a 6400kbs down speed, however, only get around 768k - 2mb on the bandwidth tests (tried a few different ones)

Any ideas ?

It's perfectly normal and will change over the next ten days, try searching the forum for 'BRAS profile', '10 day training period' etc.

Welcome to AOHell. Who will likely cut you off over christmas because someone cancelled our service. It wasn't us, it wasn't them and it wasn't BT.. Uhm..

Other than that, everything is spiffy until you need to ring them up. You may get lucky and get a sexy Irish woman, ;) who I got when I wanted to downgrade from Plat to Gold.

Enjoy the no limit-ness. :)

Incidently, did you grab a free router from them? I got a Speedtouch, tried using both my old Netgear DG834G's and neither now work.

I got a free DG834G, just did the auto setup and typed my user/pass :) - worked

I had a mate who got cut off AOL by someone too lol ... about July time i think it was :p

The trick is to get that nice Irish lady's email address ;) Can't think of any reason why an 834 wouldn't work for you. I've now had a DG834 v1, v2, and DG834G V3, an old Safecom with Billion f/w and a Fujitsu ? modem (from Smoothwall testing) all running on AOL (I was wondering what if any difference I would see and had them in to upgrade the firmware on a remarkably boaring Thursday afternoon), granted the Safecom needed to have settings inputbut the 834's all picked up perfectly and didn't have any problems going back on the EFH lines we still have once the correct login details were input.

When I was running the DG's It was setup for PPPoE, which is what the Speedtouch says it is, but when I plug the DG's in they auto detect PPPoA, the connection info says its all connected but it just doesn't work.

Doesn't help that the earlier v2 has a Ethernet prob, and the newer one doesn't respond to changes. Don't really care, was just fiddling yesterday to see if the Speedtouch was preventing me from getting onto the TDU servers.

Also, LOL!!! at their customer support live help guys, which I don't bother with anymore as they tell you to do the same whatever the problem, aswell as me not having the lame-o software on anymore.
