Hi all

Just finished lapping my e2180. Started at 400 grit, then 800, 1200 and finally 1500.

I would have gone further for that extra shine but my order for 2000 and 2500 grit hasn't arrived yet!

As for temps, knocked 5 degrees off but most importantly both cores are even.

Pics attached. First one is about half way through. Rubbish cpu - middle is the worst part. Second pic is when i've all done.

What do you think?

Yep, it's a lapped CPU. :D

Good job on the temps though, must do mine at some point as there's a 4 degree difference between cores.

Going for a shiny CPU won't bring your temps down any more and might have the opposite effect depending on how you acheive the shine.

Nice job :)

I got my paper from Halfords. I ordered the super fine stuff from a famous auction website.

Nice, did you use anything on the other side to stop **** getting on it?

I didn't cover the other side. I did it quite slowly so all the dirt stayed on the metal side.

If you want fine sand papers your best bests are often car/spraying/paint shops. I find DIY stores usually only stock the low grit stuff, at least in my experiance :p

Dont forget to find a decent piece of float glass to do it all on if you dont have something around to butcher :D
