Hi,

I don't usually start threads and not that i post often either but today has been nothing but stress bad news.

Long story short is im a student, just recently purchased computer components and had recieved them.

The motherboard i got was the MSI p67a-gd53. began the RMA process as i noticed 2 pins were out of shape on the CPU socket.

Told OCuK and apparently physical damage voids warrenty. Understandable, but not when you are not reponsible for the damage. Phoned up OCuK and spoke to the guy who said the exact same thing about the warrenty etc. was then put on to the manager Chris. Both sound like decent people but said the same thing. out of good will Chris offered to try fix the pin if i sent the mobo to them.

I appreciate the gesture of trying to fix but im pretty outraged that i can't even get a replacement from OCuK or MSI themselves. im now left with no personal computer and a handful of new components which cant be used and no money to replace the motherboard.

Ive attached a picture below i took earlier

i have little faith that it can be fixed and am still furious that i can't even get a replacement mobo sent to me.

I've purchased many items and components from OCuK and have had no problems which annoys me even more.

Looking at them pics that can be fixed tbh, I have fixed MUCH worse sockets than that in my time, one time I fixed an AMD cpu that had 80% of its pins flat.

Don't write it off just yet, how long have you have the motherboard for?

Should be rma able as it came from ocuk like that so they should replace it. Really not sure why they arnt unless they think it has been done in transit if so they should contact the delivery ppl and claim for it, you shouldnt have to tho.

I bet you all the tea in china if I went into ocuk warehouse and opened up all it's Intel motherboards I would not find one bent cpu pin.

I also agree about it being fixable as iirc they should be adjustable, just as long as their not snapped off as thats the big issue but bent a little should be doable just get somit like a pen or whatever has a good tip (maybe needle) and just adjust it so its in line like the rest which they should jump to if nudged a bit.

Didn't it come with a protector to cover the pins and mean that nothing could squash them?

Speak to MSI, if they value their customers like Gigabyte they will replace the socket free of charge, speak to scottie B on these forums.

Why are you RMAing it?

Just return it as DOA. You have bought a brand new product... the product has turned up damaged (whether it was produced defective, or the Courier damaged it is not your concern), send it back to OcUK stating that it came damaged and they'll swap it with another (hopefully not a dud this time).

Simples.
