Just made the move from IE...

Yeah I'm so glad I moved away from IE - So slow in comparison to others.

I don't use a stopwatch to measure the speed maybe you could show a few timings. ;) This speed business is all very subjective.

Maybe we should carry on this discussion in here.

As in my original post, for me, I've found it to be significantly faster thus I made a thread :p

I just loaded up Met Office on IE and it took 5 secs. I just loaded it up on Chrome and it took sub 1 sec, it was instant.

I just loaded up Hotmail on IE it took 7 seconds. Just loaded it on Chrome and it was pretty much the same as above.

What are your computer specs? I use Chrome and IE8 side by side and for me they are as quick as each other. I know objectively Chrome is faster, but I'd be hard pushed perceiving any difference.

It might be worth disabling any unwanted plugins for IE.

I prefer Firefox because I tried to get used to the way Chrome manages bookmarks and if you don't want a bookmark bar there isn't a simple "Bookmarks" button you can push to bring down a list of bookmarks. Why do you have to go into the menu to open it?

I don't want a bookmarks bar as the whole point in Chrome was to be streamlined so why did they not just include a simple button that you could click rather than doing multiple clicks to open the bookmarks window?
