Just about to move out of my parents home of some 20 odd years and into my newly renovated flat to live on my own. Most people would be excited but to be quite honest with you I'm bricking myself about it.

I can't drive (medical reason) and my friends most of which have their own places are not easy for me to get to other than expensive taxi rides. So everyone will have to come to me.

My girlfriend can drive so she can come and see me but she is very busy and will probably only get a chance one night a week.

So anyone here moved straight from the nest into a world of solitude? What was it like, any success stories? Or should I be looking for a flat mate right now so I don't go stir crazy during the evenings?

Long time listener first time caller btw! :)

Welcome btw :)

And how you fair will depend on your personality. Some people crave peace and quiet while others hate their own company! Wouldn't worry about it though as of course you'll be soon addicted to the forums so all will be fine! It'll be like being alone but with lots of friends! :p

shotgun mine!

And hello there, welcome to the nut house

You should look to be doing something, as human interaction is very important to people. Maybe you should be looking for a flatmate

it's like anything takes time to adjust. I found when i had my stint on my own (now renting with mates) it was a starnge period, i got to understand myself a little more and enjoyed doing things at my own pace, ie the washing and cooking. I often had people around that seemed to work well.

All i can say is.... give it a month or so before you make any desions about a flat mate....

i remember so many people hate uni at first then look back and say it was the best time ever, it's due to the change and the flying of the nest

give it time mate..

Make sure you're always stocked up with plenty of beer, crisps, and a console, and everyone coming around won't be a problem ;)

Welcome btw :)

you went to the wrong schools then.

Meh, me thinks not. Although Mohinder will probably point out that the school I went to isn't technically a school anymore but rather more of a community service centre.

I cant imagine living alone really. No company everyday. OK if you get lots of visitors though. :)
