Hi,

I just upgraded from Q6600+AC Freezer Pro to Q9550+Noctua NH-U12P.
The temperatures went from 55-60 to 46C in Core Temp. However I noticed something strange. The Core Temp program shows tha following 4 temps:
45, 29, 21, 46. Shouldnt all 4 cores have about the same temps?

Furthermore, I have an Asus P5K-E. How should I adjust the memory? Its PC8500 so it should be clocked at 667Mhz instead of 400Mhz?

thanks

You should be able to get the memory running near enough the correct speeds by changing the multiplier.

For example if your FSB is 400MHz and you set your memory multiplier to 2.5 your RAM would run at 1000MHz which would only be 66MHz off the stock speeds

For the temps, try Everest or Speedfan

Theres normal some differences in the temps of quard but not 20+ degrees.

And 8500 ram runs at 1066mhz not to change the divider to get your ram there. using your 400mhz FSB your ram frequency should be 533mhz which i think is a divider of 4:3

Are all the screws on the heatsink done properly and tightly? That kind of temp difference should only be from incorrectly seated hsf or really uneven surface, but surface shouldnt be that bad. Try re seating? Is it still at stock?

Or its stucvk sensors. Do the they move at all as load increases?

My 9650 has two senors stuck at 40 and 41C and until the temp gets above them, they don't move.

So at idle my temps read 24,25,40,41 :(

as previously stated, wait about 2-3 days to see if the temps settle down, as the thermal grease takes about 72 hours to get properly working. if the temps are still skewed, take of the heatsink, clean it off, and re-apply.

hope this helps!

Are you priming All cores running @100% because those temps are good, If you are not then it is normal as some cores will be idle and some busy

I done the same upgrade a while back, my lapped q6600 had a bit of difference in core temps, 68-68-62-62, 3.8ghz prime load, current q9550 idles at 35-34-32-32, load at 3.6ghz is, 54-51-47-47. Ive only ever seen 2 screenshots of an intel quad with perfectly even core temps, was on here the other day iirc.

I have never seen any at all; my own Q9550 in CoreTemp has a difference of a few degrees C, but it is not something I pay attention too...

If it was say a difference of 10C or more, (as already suggested) simply re-seating the heatsink/fan should help.
