**Not a medical thread**

Not sure what to think here but yesterday, my son had a checkup on his eye, he's got a squint and his right eye is week compared to his left. While assessing his progress with his squint, they said they found mole sized object at the back of his eye. The medical word used to describe this is simply translated to Cancer of the Eye.

They’ve said that it’s nothing to worry about and apparently its common in children of this age, but that doesn’t make us feel any better. They’re going to monitor it and will see him again in 2 months, but now I’m worrying.

For those with children, have you come across this?
Did it develop into anything?

Sorry but I'm sat here worrying like mad over this, not to mention I lost my mum to cancer 7 years ago and my baby daughter to a heart condition! I just need to talk - sorry!

Sorry to hear that Snips, my wife had this as a kid. Malignant Melinoma or something, they had it removed with laser surgery and it hasn't bothered her since. It is visible if you look closely at her eye but nothing you'd notice if you weren't aware of it.

Good luck whatever happens mate, but I think you might be surprised. I certainly hope so :)

I've got it mate. Left eye since I was 5(first noticed anyway) I'm 24 now and it hasn't changed. Admittedly my eyesight is poor but my dad is blind as a bat as well so it could be that rather than the lump causing issues.

I've got quite the family history of genetic defects so I know how worrying it can be.

Easier said than done but take it as they come and try not to worry. Nothing may come of it.

As a father I know how worrying anything medical can be. But good luck. Sounds like it could be completely benign though?

Thanks for your replies, it's good to hear positive stories.

Yes Hades - they did say it could go either way but the fact it's identified as tumor is just awful!
