Hi all, Thanks for looking. Just planning on upgrading soon and wanting to know if things look alright to you all.

Asus P8Z77-V DELUXE Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail
Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2)
Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/LGA2011/AM2/AM3) (CWCH100)
G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL )

I chose the more expensive Asus board for the vast amount of features and slots compared to the LX version. the SSD for hdd caching to speed up the SATA2's i currently have. I also chose the Hydro H100 for overkill cooling to ensure i dont end up frying the i5 when it comes to overclocking it.

My main concerns though are, is the asus board over the top? will the ssd caching be worth having, will the performance be "omfg" compared to the Q6600 2.4 quad core im using currently.

Thank you for reading and a thank you for any advice. If you think of a better build please do let me see it and explain why, i'll consider every answer.

You will definately see a difference in the cpus, on pass mark the score for the q660 was 2970 whereas the i5-3570k was 7690 so it will be a huge difference, as for the motherboard do you really want to be spending 200 pound on a motherboard just for hard drive caching i don't think you'll notice that much of a difference if your already getting an ssd the read write speed will already be huge in comparison to your current build

It's more than just ssd caching i'm wanting the motherboard for though, the amount of features to it and additional slots tell me its going to be lasting me a good amount of years.

I'm aiming at tailoring the new rig so my next only upgrade will be from the 560 Ti OC i have. (Without spending thousands on most expensive parts)

yeah ok i see where your going if your looking for it to last then definitely go for it otherwise the build is awesome you'll see a huge performance increase from your last q6600

any reason your not going to use the ssd as the main boot drive ?

what sort of features/slots are you looking at on the asus that you dont get on the lx model ?

If its possible i will be using it as the main boot drive as well as a section of it for ssd caching, the features were increased usb slots, the free wifi stuff, and the support for both sli and xfire so im not limited by what card type i want to pair up. I always hated being restricted to either nvidia or ati.

I'd suggest, with that big an SSD to just use it as a boot drive. Mass storage doesn't need to be as fast as Windows and programs, and you'll notice more for a difference that way. SSD caching is good, im my opinion, for those who can't afford 120GB+ SSDs.

This has crossfire/SLI support, and a free mouse mat :D
Gigabyte is recommended a lot around here, with their good 3 year UK warranty and good build quality. Also good price for the features. Being £70 cheaper you cal easily fit a wifi card in and still be much cheaper :p

If you've linked a motherboard mate i dont see it on your post.
