Got it for £9.99 Excl postage not bad eh?

Was thinking about which class i want my first character to be but i am stuck so advice is needed from you lot. I don't think i want to be a elementalist as i have had enough of them on other RPG's but i don't really want to be stuck with a "boring" class either.

I like the look of Necromancers although it seems complicated or maybe warriors but again im not quite sure which would create a fun character, which is what i am ultimatly looking for i guess.

Any suggestions or tips?

Hope i like this game

Factions or prophecies?

Proph has a much better story, factions is, a bit "Get to lvl 20 and just kill stuff after an hour", I played proph for 2 weeks straight, got bored, didnt touch for 8 months, finished it, got factions did the same again.

Helps if your ina guild and such :) Gets boring on your own.

if you want to try something fun, try being a minion master ( its a build of a necormancer) I have the game kicking round somewhere and if you have prop, ill try and help you out if you want

i used to play, in the godless as well (over a year played)

MM isnt as fun anymore really, max is about 10 minions

youll enjoy it lots, especially if you can make th gvg matches

yay /dance :D

i just loaded this game back up after a month or 2, its still updating at 500+MB andi havnt even left the login screen yet  i like the new log in screen though :) going to make a prophecies mesmer again, they were my favourite class :D

Necro's are fun when you're a minion master, you just run around with your own little army of demons, they can be devastating in the right hands, when you're a man short on a mission a minion master can really square up the odds.

I've got a monk and a ritualist.

Monk - really good class to be, definitely be in demand wherever you go, especially in the later levels. I switch between being a healer when i'm in a group, or swtich to solo fighting monk if i want to go farming.

Ritualist - very difficult class, one of the hardest in the game to master, but really rewarding when you do. Very similar to necro minion master, i'm a spirit spammer, creating spirits which can lay siege from behind your warriors. Very good in the right hands, frustrating if you dont enjoy being a support class.

I've always wanted to be a warrior or ranger, i think thats what my next few builds will be, warriors are always needed, rangers less so but they are very valuable in a good group.

Elementalist looks fun for the damage they can do, mesmer's can be great if they know how to handle, but i've heard they struggle without a good team.

Just don't be an assasin, most useless class in the game imo, too many times i have trouble with them getting stuck into the enemy and taking hits like they're warriors and dying.

assassins useless? since when? last time i played they were one of the best classes in PvP and were also good in PvE (if the player didnt think they were a tank)

in PvE im using, leaping mantis sting, jungle strike, death blossom, star burst, inferno, return, conjure flame and rez signet and it does quite well  run in after the warriors take the aggro, do the combo and use return to get out  or swap inferno for a self heal if you really need it

Well i did say it was just an opinion, from a healing perspective i hate having them in a team because they get close enough to aggro and take hits but don't have the armour to reduce damage, i'd much rather have another warrior or spellcaster.

I rarely see assasins in PvP, most people stick to the core prophecies types, i certainly wouldn't call them one of the best PvP classes, maybe they're nice to have around in certain circumstances, but i'd rather have a decent warrior/nuker/prot monk any day of the week, they just seem to be a luxury rather than necessity like other classes.

I'm sure they're fun to play with and thats the main thing, no one ever wants my ritualist in their team despite the damage a well specced build can do, doesn't mean i don't have fun playing with that character though.

if you dont do it yourself it isnt very fun
yeah but I've been running around for ages now and I still can't figure out how to get better minions!

i see what you mean about the healing, most assassins i have seen in groups dont get out the battle and spend most of their time on the floor with a -60% penalty :(

them being good in PvP was mainly GvG, ive seen quite a few take out the whole npc team in the guild battles single handedly while the rest of the team took care of the flag, they work great in pairs aswell as i saw in one of the last pride's battles against war machine where WM just gave up and /resigned

i havnt played for months though, so things could have changed

anybody playing in the nightfall event this weekend?

^--- VeNT, you get better minions by increasing your Death Magic attribute and their are a few spells for different minions
Bone Minions = 2 low level minions that are only good for putting death nova on :D
Bone Horror = 1 high level warrior minion
Bone Fiend = probably the favourite for MM since they are ranged and stay in a group
Flesh Golem = an elite golem, ive never used one though
Vampiric Horror = a warrior minion but attacks slower and gives you health when they hit

where do these skills come from, I think I've got the one from the starter area (pre searing) I've not got any of the later packs (ie factions) just the first game. my minions seem to die very fast (before they get any targets to kill) advice?

Blood of the master will keep them alive, but it knocks your health down, you can get that from Henge of Denravi

Bone Minions = Droknar's Forge
Bone Horror = should have that already from pre-searing
Bone Fiend = Droknar's forge
Flesh Golem = Factions
Vampiric Horror = Factions

you might have to play as something other than an mm to get far enough to get the skills, like vamp gaze spamming or something

ive never played an mm because i never know how to keep myself alive while i use my health to heal the minions without a monk healing me continuously (i dont think they have time to heal anyone else)

to be a minion master (havent played in a while but this is what i used )

N/MO
16 Death 12 (+3 Sup rune , and +1 Head Gear)
Healing 8?
Soul Reaping Rest (major rune) Get as High as Possible

Try and maximise your energy, you can get the +15 energy -1 energy regeneration offhand. I tended to find that when you get into a fight the energy regenration doesnt matter because soul reaping gains enough for you.
Also try and get hold of a +1 Death Magic Wand with 20% chance, as these give you a chance at higher level minions when you summon them.

Basic Plan - Support
Spells
Bone Fiend
Bone Horrors
Blood of the Master
Venturas Sacrifice
Deathly Swarm
Death Nova
Soul Feast?
Heal Area

Wait till the rest of the group engages enemys and cast deathly swarm to help add some damage if you can spare the energy, cast bone fiends straight away as soon as corpse's appear. In large fights in sorrows furnace (high level dungeon) i found i was able to spam bone fiends and blood of the master to constantly raise and heal minions.
When your health gets low use heal area to keep your from dieing from over sacrifice. Cast a few bone minions and use nova on them, when they die they act as walking bombs- damaging and poisoning the enemy.
Above all make sure you dont die, if you do all your minions will go hostile to you- which is never good in a close fight :D

I got a lot of minion spells quite early in factions with my rit/necro, didn't realise they were hard to get in prophecies, all apart from flesh golum are available from skill vendors.

I just lay down 3 spirits, then release a flesh golum and a few bone minions, seems to work pretty well for me.

Ahh i don't play much GvG, just stick to the main arena's. I guess like all characters they're good in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, just let down by the many who treat them like a tank, i remember when factions first came out half the mission teams were full of assasins, bloody nightmare keeping them all alive.

Nightfall is going to be the same, teams full of paragon and dhervish, no monks at all for love nor money.

anybody playing in the nightfall event this weekend?

Oh yes :D i fancy trying out a dhervish.

vizuna square was a nightmare for assassins when factions was released  lol, i think that was the mission that gave them such a bad reputation :( when i first started i literaly had to spec my assa with healing spells because of a shortage of monks and to even stand a chance of getting into a team :( wasnt a brilliant healer, but we managed to get through the mission

dervish sounds very interesting, i heard it can attack 3 enemies at the same time with a normal attack
