After battling it out between this and COH, I absolutely loved COH. I wanted a old school based RTS (AOE style) so I've now ordered this.

Can't wait as I have the following kit arriving tomorrow to build:

E6300
Asus P5B Deluxe
2GB Crucial Anniversary
Sapphire X1950XT
Also Dual Dell 2007WFP's

This game does support widescreen right?

What patch should I be getting? What's the online aspect like?

Cheers :)

Ive been waiting to try it out on my new system that arrived yesterday (In my sig).

Get some screens after you have pushed everything to max settings will ya :P

Max settings with large unit scale ( 150 infantry, 75 cavalry etc ) will bring your comp to its knees especially when it has multiple faction in one battlemap.

Blimey

I know it runs at 20-30fps or there abouts but woah! How does your system keep up with it?

Haven't played online yet, way too noob for online atm.

My comp plays it great. Just that in certain scenarios, fps does huge drops.

Er... in a way.

Anything that uses polygons is properly supported [a wider viewport, more stuff on screen, all the usual widescreen benefits].

However, all 2D stuff [that's the interface, the buttons, the unit cards, the pop-up info panels etc] will be stretched. Yes, including text. Ugliness ensues.

It's not exactly proper widescreen support. This is why I play normal aspect ratio despite having the Dell 24".

As for patches...

There's only one official patch available at the moment. Definitely download and apply it.

Then there are the mods. It's still early days, but there are some promising mod 'packages' out there: LandsToConquer, Road To Jerusalem, WinningCombo etc. All provide different gameplay experiences to the standard ['vanilla'] MII:TW game, and in most cases will also fix issues that even the patched standard game hasn't resolved yet.

www.twcenter.net is your friend :)

hmm my 64 3700+ (clawhammer), 2GB of Ram and X800XT runs everything at mid or max with large unit scales at 1280 X1024 and it runs pretty well, I don't see why his machine shouldn't be able to run it at max aslong as it's not a stupid resolution.
