Just ordered my Coolermaster Ammo

your ammo been delivered yet?

tommorow hopefully, at depot now...., anyway just been getting reviews of my NT06 cooler performing against the SI-120 and Big Typhoon, well it's not that bad, sure the other two coolers can lower the temperature my 6 degrees, but i think my NT06 will be fine, should not go over 62 degrees at full load and can expect under 40 degrees idle , currently 60 degrees idle at the moment without the fan on.....hehehe...anway jsut took the fan out of box, it's a BEAST!!!!, it's huge I tell you like 3.5CM thick...well with the side vents on the Ammo it should do a good job at cooling..

meansizzler I used to think my £40 Creative speakers sounded great, until I bought some £200 speakers, £250 amp and £250 CDP, shell out £40 on cables second hand for them, £60 on speaker stands.

Then instantly, CD's are full of depth and warmth, lots going on and everything defined, run the CD through the PC and a Audigy 2 zs and it sounds dire, not half the detail and lacks the punch the CDP can provide.

All PC speakers are decidedly super low end for audio re-production. My setup is far from ideal but from what I have heard from my Creative soundcards, they are dire and it is widely accepted amound amp users that they are, T-amp up.

A £20 amp and £120 speakers will beat your speakers for music by a blind mile, music was designed for 2.0, however as you play games the surround sound would add a whole dimension of emmersion to the experience you would not otherwise get.

Its worth shelling out for high end audio, if you can justify it, but the Creative cards are certainly terrible for sound re-production.

Define gaming card?

Supposed FPS increase of 1 from using it?

Any hardware soundcard will remove the load from a CPU, and modern CPU's are so fast it would not impact at all, especially dual cores.

EAX is the only part that could come into it, but to be honest I would prefer the quality and clarity of another brand to Creatives gimmics, stereo upmixing, WHY?!

EAX is a multi channel surround processing mode like dolby, so either the mutlichannel game audio is processed to EAX form and decoded by soundcard or converted to dolby digital stream by DD Live mobo/card and passed to amp to decode..., which one sounds better who knows?...but most of the games seem to favour EAX...and well as for them non gaming cards which cannot support the Latest EAX mode or DD Live well guess your just missing out...Long definition of gaming card huh?...

Not a dffinition at all.

You don't need EAX to hear things in games, much better hearing less but to a higher quality than a lot of distorted sounds, in my book.

Anyway this is Case Central, in a thread on the subject of the Ammo.

LOL, yeah very good point. Unless the ammo is so cool with its HD ports its also got optical out at the front 'side'?

Now thats just silly and totally pointless.

Thermaltake will do it next case, you watch. :p

i think overall the ammo looks like a half decent case, compared to the other cases mentioned though...hmmm, it looks rather cheesy, but its got some cool features, such as the handle and rubber button covers...

as for the eclipse being ugly
the pictures dont do an eclipse justice, its motherboard tray has better features and style then the entire ammo case:D as for front audio ports... who cares, as stated earlier just use the soundcard or like me my AIO controller...

I agree with this guy - it looks like possibly the most cheesiest case ever conceived, and i've had a rig in a Thermaltake Xaser (nasty POS) but more companies should try harder to make their cases transportable.

It's only a handle but at least it's something. I'd love to put my next rig in an Antec P180 or Akasa Eclipse but lugging those onto a train once every 2 months would do my head in! :D

Looks like it's a Sugo for me (Shuttle are STILL overpriced) and a Sugo bag... now it's just how to transport the Dell 20in WS i'm planning for the rig too!

Hope the case works out for you MeanSizzler!

It's not for LANs, er... it's a bit more complicated.

I have friends in Reading that I visit every couple of months - and when I do I go for 1-2 weeks at a time.

I'm thinking my safest bet would be to use the box it came in - that's what I currently do with my Samtron and it's protected it fine.

Just getting down the gangway on a train with a 20 inch monitor scares the hell out of me - it's not like they leave you much space to maneuver. ;)

EAX is a great addition for gaming, play DOOM3 with and then without it and you'll know what i mean, it totally transforms the sound. I never listen to people who say "ohh getting this will make music miles better" etc as everyone hears thing different. What can make a big improvement to one person can sound the same to another. The Creative sound cards dont sound dire at all IMO, i have mine hooked up to my technics HIFI which is a separates system with AMP etc and music sounds great. But i do agree that PC speakers aren't the best for music, even when spending silly money on the creative top end ones.

Get the Eclipse then tie some string to the front and pull it along on its wheels :) .
