just ordered this baby..

Is there any new codes out? Just had my bday and can buy myself a nice laptop, but gutted this deal seems to have ran out yeterday!

Nothing as yet. You can get the 'basic' spec M1330 (1.66GHz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD) for £539 though, which is still cheap. E-Value code is 305-N0113352 for that.

ta found a nice deal getting £250 off when i add it to the basket, and think i can get VAT back aswell :) which would mak it £659 for:

Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.20 GHz
Vista Home Premium
13.3" UltraSharp WXGA White-LED Display with TrueLife
2048MB RAM
250GB HDD
128MB nVidia GeForce Go 8400M GS
8x DVD+/-RW

guys,

I'm thinking of changing my batter from the 4cell to 6 cell , possibly 9cell

Can anyone post pics of how much the 9 cell sticks out

secondly whats the battery life in real usage browsing the web on wifi, 75% screen brightness.

I get about 2.30hr with the 4 cell atm.

sid

Random question I know but could someone tell me the dimensions of the package the m1330 came in, and if possible the weight of the whole thing?

I'm trying to sort out a courier to deliver to me but they all ask for dimensions.

It's not very reliable though so don't think it's secure.

Haha yeah, after you mentioned the incident of it letting your girlfriend log on as you, I didn't even bother to install the software after I did a clean install of Vista on my 1330. :p

Just got one like this as my work laptop :)
As for the Fingerprint reader, they are notoriously unreliable as a security measure. If it was Fingerprint in ADDITION to your username and password I would use it. Unfortunately I cannot see any way to achieve this!

Was there much hassle doing a clean install? I've seen two guides for the 1330/1530 on another notebook forum I use but it seems like a lot of hassle.

I've removed most of the crap from my 1530 but there are still some stuff that loads during bootup that I'm not too sure about, so a clean install could help.

Fairly straightforward for me, to be honest. Downloaded the relevant drivers/apps I needed from the Dell website (apps-wise, just the stuff for the webcam, QuickSet, and Notebook System Software), installed Vista using the supplied disc and then installed the drivers/apps using the order they recommend. Easily done in an evening.

Courier company (I assume, I wasn't in at the time) came and collected the 1330 today. Interestingly, it's going to 'Syncreon Technology - European Product Returns Centre'. In any case, it's gone and rid of, now just need to wait for a) my refund, and b) the new better one to arrive next week.

Hoping it all goes well this time.

The saga continues! Got my refund from Dell yesterday, which has put my mind at ease. Got an email from them this morning about the new one I've ordered however, saying that the original delivery date of the 12th of Feb has been put back, so it's now the 27th! Aaaaaaargh!

I'm looking at getting the wife a laptop and we were looking at the Dell ones (Inspiron 1720 /1721 17" widescreen)Anything between the Intel or AMD one?

It won't be gaming machine or anything more to surf the web and do basic work on it and watch films and play fm 08. Though i was hoping to get something for a good price with HDMiI on it so i could stream HD to the plasma though i think that won't be in my price range of around £550 or less.

This will seem like a silly question but is there any reason why i couldn't format it and stick win XP on it? I'm not a fan or Vista myself and i'd rather have XP on it.

Is it just like a desktop computer to format and install a OS. Never had a laptop before hence the reason for asking.

Also heard that the TrueLife screens aren't as good as the normal screens as they reflect to bad?

Also if you find a discount code where do you put it, at the end as your in checkout or something?

Thanks....
