I need it for tomorrow so I just looked at what parts had reviewed well and ordered them so that I could make the delivery cut off. I checked to see they were all the right parts, but I may have missed something, so if you guys spot anything stupidly obvious please let me know :D

YOU CALL THIS BUDGET PC  :(

neway good combination there should be a beast, assuming you are reusing your old kb/ms, monitor, speakers, and optical drive.

Looks sweet, but hardly budget lol. I have the exact same Mobo, Case & CPU and all are very good with good overclocking potential and the case looks sweet and very cool.

Heh, well most of my friends run insane quad core specs, but:

A: I can't really see the point in having tech that far ahead of the curve, you pay for performance that you don't use 98% of the time.

B: I've just had to spend 600 quid on tyres for the car, and I'm too poor even if I wanted to. :)

Yeah I'll be using all the old kit as they are still pretty decent, what would a Dell box with a 6800, 3ghz P4, 1gb DDR and a 120gb SATA be worth to anyone these days, or should I just leave it to crunch units?

Looks fine, I don't know huge amounts about the Abit motherboard but it is based on the Nforce 650 SLi chipset so ought to be reasonably decent. You might want to consider a decent aftermarket cooler if overclocking such as the Noctua NH-U12F or Tuniq Tower.

I do understand what you mean about budget though, I haven't built myself a new PC in a couple of years now but anything less than £1,000 tends to be a bit of a budget system for me.

Your old system isn't likely to be worth a huge amount now but if you have no real uses for it then you are probably as well to sell and recoup some of the cost. :)

Your old machine may be of use to someone if its at a sensible price!

my GF just fell in love with Half life 2, and since i only have one machine (ie: mine) i always lose my gaming time. She totally wears the trousers. I think a 3ghz P4 would suite her nicely.

Email in trust :P

Heh, yup, hardly budget. I would probably have cut back a bit elsewhere and gone for an 8800 GTS. But, should still do very nicely. :D Enjoy!

You have paid your money and made your choice!

I think that although many people would change a number of the components for their personal favourites or altered the balance to allow for a superior graphics card, at the end of the day, you will end up with a system that you should enjoy for quite a while.

Ah thats the thing, I tend to buy cheaper GFX cards and upgrade every 9 months, where as I usually go for a couple of years between CPU changes :)

DampCat I'll drop you a mail once I successfully moved over to the new rig!
