Black Nokia E51 & Screen Protector

2gb MicroSD
Sifstar III Keyring GPS receiver (hope its as small as they make out...)

On the same lines:
Jabra BT3030 Bluetooth Stereo Headset

to go with my iPod and bluetooth iPod adapter, and pair with the phone too hopefully :).

So, bets on what i won't like or will go wrong :p? :D

Far, far too much :p I'll add it up in a second. I could have saved a fair bit on the phone if i'd bought it when it first come out on eBay and apparently nobody knew of it. Now words got around price has risen a fair bit, and i'd only be saving £10 or so buying it off eBay. Annoying really but i didn't have the spare cash flying around a few months ago when i was looking at getting it...

Phone £180 Standard deal around
GPS £50 i could have got the same hardware for £30 probably but i wanted this specifically for its size and keyring status (we'll see how that pans out).
MicroSD wasn't anything special, about £10 wanted 4gb but wasn't prepared to pay the premium, so thi'll do.
Jabra Headset was £35 (Quite pleased with that as its got two uses i guess, and i get to use my current decent headphones).

Total would be ~£280, which sounds loads now, but i think its fairly decent deal for the hardware and i get everything i want, the phone is tiny and everything is very versatile, ie. GPS and headset can be reused. Is it bad i'm already trying to convince myself this is a good deal :D?

What dont you like about it?
And you can bet all you want but don't think i haven't looked ;) If you can show me somewhere that sell bundles cheaper fine, but the only place i know sells the inital phone for much more than £180 before it "discounts" the other items...

You could have got a Nokia N82 or a Nokia N95 8GB on ebay for a similar price (£280), perhaps even cheaper. They are the current market leaders and have built in GPS etc.

Still though if your happy with it thats all that maters really. :)

I looked at them, but they're bigger and heavier. The GPS is all great, but i'd rather have it on my keys out my way when i need it than built in making my phone bigger. Plus the GPS is a sifstar chip rather than el-cheapo integrated and hence doesn't need a-gps. AFAIK the processor is basically the same in this, and the OS is the most up-to-date feature pack wise, which is nice too :)

I;m not much of a fan of the sliding N95 personally, and the n82 definately goes for more than that on ebay, because i've been looking! Remember the above total includes the bluetooth headset and delivery which i wouldn't get on ebay... So discounting those if you want to compare you're looking at £245 and thats still including lets guess £10 delivery? (Next day).

Update: all arrived this morning, the phone is perfect, can't fault it at all yet, and its tiny for a smartphone (with WiFi as well)! GPS works as i expected, like every other siftstar III, and is the smallest i've ever seen... The screen protector was pap, far far too thick, so i'm going naked atm until i cough up for another one annoyingly. Although the bluetooth headset didn't arrive so that can wait but i can't see what could go wrong with that :p.

So far so good and more than happy spending the money!

One feature i've just noticed is missing from this phone and i guess all the new e-series (n-series have never had it). The omission of access point groups in connection settings. On my E60 i use to add my home wifi my 3g connection and other common access wifi points in order of preferred connection, and then i would tell applications to connect to the group rather than exclusive access points... The phone switched and worked out everything fancy in the background, i'm annoyed such a good feature has been taken out!

The rest arrived today, and the headset dongle thingy is *tiny*! It's charging and should be finished within the hour now. I'll have a play around, i hope to be able to use it to stream music off my laptop, phone and iPod to whatever 3.5mm device be it my headphones or my speakers across the room.

As usual things don't always go to plan... The jabra 3030 headset pairs with my phone and my jabra a125s ipod adapter fine, but won't work with both at the same time... If i connect the ipod adapter first then force my phone to connect to the bluetooth audio device the phone connects and shows i have a headset connected but if i try to dial a number or do anything headset related it tells me its disconnected? If i have a number pre dialed and hit dial quick the headset does infact work and takes over the bluetooth connection, but once i've finished the music is back and if i go to dial or do anything phone related the phones headset connection gets kicked again? This is meant to accept two connections so i can't see what the problem is, both devices are fighting over the connection...? Annoying really, since i didn't buy it to use one or the other!

//Edit: Does it make a difference that the iPod adapter is bluetooth 1.2 and my phone is 2.0? It doesn't mention anything anywhere on the web or manual etc... But it could be that i guess...?

Well this one and a load others, i have tomtom on it now, and yes i'm more than happy with it apart from the the odd niggle. Its the best of the s60 series almost i'd say after a few upgrades. The notification light was a long time coming too! But i can't believe they REMOVED conection groups!!!!

Still battery life is unbelievable, and it will do anything i want it to so far :)

I might consider this phone too then as I'd like to get a S60 phone now... I'm currently using a G600 and a old Nokia 6600 purely for tomtom.

Just got this phone as an upgrade from T-Mobile, mostly going to be used as a modem and for tomtom - hope its as good as the reviews make it out to be!

Nice, I was looking into a few phones for my next upgrade (after the N80) and decided on the 6120 Classic - but it's missing the wifi! This seems like it's got everything I need, and minus everything I dont need (camera and gps).

Did you get this phone offline or on contract? Although not on the o2 site, I hope they can somehow offer me it as an upgrade xD

I could have got it with t-mobile, but it made better sense to upgrade my t-mobile contract when it ran out and not get a new phone, for that i reciever a further £10 off my bill a month (on top of the 25% off already), meaning i get flext20 for £5 per month. Then i bought that for £180 over the 18 months i don't save loads doing it this way, but i do have a totally sim free phone that i can upgrade the firmware on easily (so i don't have to wait for t-mob to get their grubby hands on the firmware).

Good plan, I may do the same if o2 are willing to knock loads off a renewed contract without a phone - although as o2 dont usually lock their phones, it may not be necessary.

I'll do my bit of research before I proceed, but for now could you tell me where you got the phone from please? Email trust if necessary (or contact via my homepage) :D
