These are Dell C610 laptops with 20GB, 512MB and P3 1GHz, xp pro (oem license) and wifi - ideal for general work/net surfing around the house/workplace/on the move. Mine has 2 battereis so power should not be an issue on long hauls \m/

My first laptop...lmao!

Don't think one will be on resale anytime soon lol!

Edit*

So cool posting from bed (how sad!)

I like the way you spend more on your audio than you do on your computers :)

Well saying that I bet that nad amp is half the price of your dell widescreen :D

Have used a C640 in the past, very nice laptops, sturdy and will last years, multibay batteries and dvdrom drives is also a nice feature.

Th guy I bought it off said if I ever have any issues then to just give him a shout as he has spare keyboards/trackpads/bit etc so it would seem I have my own parts store...LOL !

Hesky82, heh the AMP was £175 whilst the screen was £230 :D that's not including cables though, those were quite expensive ^_^

i use a c640.. the trackpad gets stuck sometimes and the screen flickers often which requires a bang on the side.. but all in all its a pretty sturdy laptop (i payed 200 for mine though :( )

By any chance does anyone know if these things can have faster processors installed or more than 512MB ram? atm there's 2 sticks of PC133 256MB and I'd like to grab 1GB and possibly a faster PIII if they existed!

You may find that old sdram sodimm pc100 or pc133 ram larger than 512mb will cost a small fortune!!

I think the PIII when to 1200Mhz max on laptops, really dont bother yourself.

Well I spoke to the guy today as I got a message from him saying he had gotten 2 more so I bought both! one appears to have a faulty hdd though, does not boot - confirmed by swapping the hd out for another ones and it boots fine so will replace HDD tomorrow!

He also gave me a few internal CD rom drives he found and a DVD rom as well as 3 high capacity batteries which I'm making ample use of:

He also gave me a 512MB stick of SODIMM PC133 and the laptops don't like it, it says "unsupported module" so looks like 512MB is the max the C310 will take I think!

Awesome!

Reckon it would be worth getting a spare hdd too and installing UBUNTU on it at all ?

If I let my Dell 6400 sit there doing nothing windows says I have 11 hours battery life, when you actually start using it the estimate soon drops :D

Well I've been defragging for the past 30 mins and installing various stuff and the reading shows:

(yes my disk is called wafflemaster ^_^)

Edit, I almost forgot! I've always wanted to do this but never had a lappy of my own to do it ^_^
