Been searching for a cheapish telephoto lense for some time. Seen these and read good reviews! Been looking at a popular auction site for weeks and spotted one, second hand with low bids.

I stuck a bid in with 10 seconds to go and got it for £118 inc Delivery, which I didnt think was bad at all. Its had a 1B filter on all its life so should be in good condition.

Hopefully get it in the next couple of days :)

PS. What effect does the 1B filter have?

I had this lens for a while and got some good pics with it.

1B Filters are usually Skylight filters, they reduce the blue colour cast in open Shade areas.

Thanks for the positive words guys :)

I've been tip-toeing around buying one for ages now, so thought I best buy a lense that I can benchmark against. If its not what I want I'll sell it, hopefully for what I paid and move to a higher quality lense. If it is what I'm after I've got a bargin.

As soon as it arrives I'll get some shots taken and post up my results :)
 
It arrived today :)

In great condition with no dirt/dust on the body side lens and only 1 spec on the openair side, unfortunatley inside! I've taken some shots whcih dont seem affected by this. It has a Hoya 1B filter which is also in good condition.

Only managed to trial it indoors so far and besides one 'Error 99' its worked well. I believe the error may have been caused by dirty contacts which I've now cleaned. The autofocusing is quicker than the kit lense so I'm looking forward to using it for motorsport etc.

Will get some sample pics as soon as I can :)
 
Been having a play with the lens tonight. Really happy with it so far! Its a lot sharper than the kit lens and has a good DOF.

Here's some of the pics I've taken tonight. All from about a 9' distance.


100mm - Looks slightly out of focus to me, but it was one of my first shots :)

Looks good to me, particularly the 100% crop which can look a bit dodgy on a lot of lenses at 300mm. Did you get those sample shots I sent over a while back?
