Lo all,
after playing around with my ex-flat mates eMac and absolutely loving it i have gone and bought a mac mini!! :D

i dont have a clue when it will arrive but it is coming from the states.

im not sure if i will need a transformer but they should come as dual voltage as standard right?

whats the deal with keyboards and mice for macs?

i found a Microsoft Wired Desktop 600 Keyboard And Mouse for a decent price... is this any good or should i look harder?

how much should an apple kb and mouse cost?

specs are:
2ghz dual core
1gb memory
120gb hd
osx 10.4 with ilife (i think)

is there anything else i should need?

ARGH IM SOOOOO EXCITED

help me find something to do while i wait for this!

Do macs come pre-installed or will i need to set it up?

also im not 100% sure if it comes with wifi and bt or just wifi... does anyone know if this model comes with built in bt?

I love this little powerbox!

so glad i got rid of the old emac (even though it was cool for a while)

started installing some stuff... and had only one niggle so far...

i cant seem to get quicktime to play divx movies :(

i want to use the remote and be lazy and stuff but i cant because it wont play back :(

how can i make quicktime work with all file types ( well divx, xvid and all common avi extentions?)

i mean the remote seems to work with vlc just fine but.... me lazy!!!

ive only had this thing less than 24hrs and i think i wont ever buy another pc hehe

ok now i can breathe!

spot on dude. i must admit a quick google search after posting here sorted me out.

it seems everything for mac is dead easy... well for now anyways hehe.

its really annoying that i have to work today :(

so far so good. actually i think its the smoothest machine ive ever used... but i mean its still fresh with hardly anything on it and no clutter so give it a week and lets see if i can mash it hehe.... also once the mrs has time to meddle with it then ill give a proper report


one major problem though (i think) i cant seem to update os x to 10.5.6 (i think) and the java update doesnt work either... it says something like the packages cant be verified :(

i dont know what to do... i cant install ilife untill i get the latest update
 
Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard is installed... well thats what it was listed as when i bought it and im prety sure thats what it said in the apple menu when i checked hehe

10.5.4 is installed (i think) and im trying to get to 10.5.6 which is only update it has through the software update.

ill have to get home to confirm this but im prety sure im right about this.

ok so i defo have 10.5.4 and it will not update to 10.5.6 :(

all it says is that the packages do not verify. also still cant install java update with the same error message
 
i managed to update in the end.

i found a manual update to 10.5.5 which worked first time round and then 10.5.6 seemed to install with no problem.

im still getting the java install problem though.

does anyone know how to change the volume via kb shortcut?
its annoying i bought a kvm yesterday and now the volume keys on my kb dont work for the mac :(

edit: ok so all updates are now installed and working fine :)

i think i will sell all my pcs now hehe

all is fine now. ive just spent about an hour deleting all the useless language files hehe RSI!!!!

all updates work fine and im loving this thing more and more... even my printer works with it :D

also i found a way around the volume key problem.... use the mini remote :D

the place is a mess... i mean really. i got cables left right and centre :s i should have some up for tomrrow though.

just a quick question now that i think of it.... is it safe to use this thing like all day? i dont wanna kill it :rolleyes:

now you see why i didn't wanna post a pic yet hehe

im flat broke and will need to move out of this place soon so cant buy a kb for a while.

a had a better looking one before but that died the a few nights ago.

im having a strange problem, with utorrent.... it wont download anything.

it was working fine until a couple of nights ago. ill try another client and see how i get on. but any suggestions are welcome

something really odd happens. when ever i post about an error on here it seems to almost self right itself :eek:

utorrent just started working after i downloaded transmission.

maybe i should retry my old kb and see what happens?

a bit neater now... just need to tie up all those cables

the pc is down to the left of the table near the tv now as i will only use it as a DL box and hoot it up to the tv although it is still hooked up to the kvm so i still have the convenience of both.

ill take an uber pic later when its all done
