How flipping crazy is that?

Just read an article about Vista restricting everything, from the software you can install, to manic DRM music restrictions.

There's a massive campaign against it, saying it takes away all your freedom (and spies on you at the same time!)

What a nightmare!!! How can they get away with that? How can they make such a bad error?

Do you think gates has bought shares in apple, and is scuppering his own company? is this really true?

I don't know who is more stupid the people who make this up or the people who believe it.

Have you got a reliable source?

As having "badvista" in the domain name, tells me straight away that the article is going to be somewhat biased. :p

Aye all a big steaming pile of...

I have much music in MP3, as I don't like swapping cds in and out, Vista is quite happy that I have no copy protection/licences on them. Same with my film collection, Vista doesn't give a monkeys.

I can still run things like Daemon Tools aswell, which if Vista is sooo secure and all uptight about copying etc. I wouldn't be able to run.

LOL, you've gotta laugh at the article, it tries to make serious points but then talks utter drivel.

On the licensing front the points raised AFAIK have always been the same and not just from MS, have a read of Adobes' license agreements they are a hell of a lot more restrictive on what you can do.

If you bought Vista in a retail store and installed it on a machine you already owned, you have to completely delete it on that machine before you can install it on another machine.
Seems fair to me. You only pay for one license.

You give Microsoft the right, through programs like Windows Defender, to delete programs from your system that it decides are spyware.
Just like every other anti-virus and anti-spyware application out there then.

Seriously, what are they trying to prove? I'm not saying that MS are completely innocent, but the way these concerns are expressed on that website is downright ridiculous.

Oh c'mon Jim, I never thought you were this gullable.

Even when you legally buy Vista, you don't own it.

This has been the case with software since day one. Unless you write the code yourself, you very, very rarely own the software.

The whole article is a load of tripe. The whole bit on licensing is laughable, it really is. Written by Linux fanboys who hate MS (I don't hate Linux and do use it fairly regularly)

Now go and hang your head in shame. :p

Sorry guys - this was a cut and paste job from a work discussion - I needed some answers from people in the know...

I hope you don't mind, but I cut and pasted your replies back - a little cheeky... I left the picture of the cat out though :p

I’m still on XP!

Even websites, magazines etc who had legitiamte concerns with Vista laughed the badvista site out of the water.

Been posted before and I've also ripped that article to shreads.

Yes MS sends some stuff back, but none of it is personally identifiable (bar registration) and the vast majority also ask permission before sending.
