morning! received my monitor first thing this morning :D ive been out of the loop for a while, just assumed to use hdmi but this comes with a mini dp-dp cable, so is that better or should i ignore that and use hdmi?

thanks!

Use display port if you can, it supports higher res than HDMI.

Later versions of HDMI are fine though, depends what your GPU supports.

thanks! i have a gtx 970 so i have put the small end in the monitor and the big one in the graphics card, nice clear display! thanks ill stick with this then!

is it me or does dell really over package this thing! couldnt get it out the box :P

In some cases yes but not with this one. The HDMI on this monitor supports the FULL 2560x1440 resolution - absolutely no difference between it and DisplayPort or indeed regular sized HDMI.

The only downside with the HDMI I noticed was with my Macbook picking the monitor up as a TV which affected sharpness and colour a bit but with a Windows PC or any other device for that matter you'll not see ay difference.

You'll also need a GPU that supports HDMI 1.3 or above, regardless of what the monitor supports.

Someone also made a specific thread for the 2515's packaging so no, you're not the only one :D

I was pulling my hair out over it! Just thought i was being stupid but ended up ripping some of its insides a bit :D ahh well!

Thanks for the above advice, i assume im fine to leave the dp as it is then, no need to put the hdmi back up if it wont make much difference?

For those with this monitor, do you leave refresh rate on normal or 'fast'? Should i be messing with any settings, seems ok as it is really?

One other thing i notice in most games that the resolution is 1440p but something like 59hz instead of 60? Is that fine? Just wondering if that would cause any issues
