Hi there,

Did do a search but didn't turn up much.

I'm in possession of V948 document with new tax disc and mot certificate.

The accompanying letter advises me to go to an approved place to have the plates made.

Can someone tell me if I'm forced to go to Halfrauds or can i simply order some road legal plates form the internet with some nice 'honeycomb' effect background?

Any thoughts appreciated! thanks! :)

It really doesn't matter who makes it up, Halfords are expensive though. I got mine done at a local sign makers and cost me about £10, only took 5 minutes to make too.

Oh right. So basically I can ignore this V948 document?

Got a bit confused as they make a big deal out of it by emphasising the need to go to authorised plate maker as well as proof of ID!

Most plate printers will ask to see the paperwork. It's a legal requirement to say who made the plate on it somewhere so if you're cloning plates they can get into trouble, hence they'll cover their own backs by seeing your papers.

Check with the online people... 95% of them sell SHOW PLATES which are ILLEGAL.

Fancyplates (if you go by default) are legal, also http://www.demonplates.com/.

As mentioned above, it MUST have the vendor printed on the bottom to be legal and that vendor must be regged with the DVLA.

No problem... I'm also needing a front replacement plate.

Not like I misjudged parking the 350z on the first day... no no that would be silly
