I have the OC pre overclocked system I7 920 running at 4Ghz. Have had very little trouble with the system, some teathing trouble at first but OC sorted it. However, I have just run Core Temp and it only shows 2 Cores? This has not happened before, any help or advice would be much appriciated. Does this mean the processor if failing?? Bought 22 Dec 2009.

update your bios and try this also Try this as well
Run>type "msconfig">boot>advanced options>uncheck # processors.

what is your present bios version ? oh and motherboard !

cpu z will tell you .

ok person on tomshardware said he updated bios and solved problem. what has happened since last week ?

Just a word of warning... updating the bios may wipe your overclock so you'd need to reapply it. I might be completely wrong as I haven't used saved bios profiles before but I thought I'd mention it.

Siege nothing has happened except an update from microsoft. Yes and if I update the bios then my overclock will not work, one of the problems I had when I first bought the system.

As mmj_uk said, check task manager and see how many cores show up in there. You should have 8 if hyperthreading is enabled, 4 if it's disabled.

If that shows less cores too, check the advanced section of your bios. You should have an option called something like "Active Processor Cores". Make sure this is set to All.

prince hope you get it sorted if not could you contact people who supplied the m/b, cpu etc
