just sayin', OcUK...

The economy's screwed anyhow :p

Actually many of us can afford these cards at their current prices, myself included.

What many of us have said is that they simply aren't worth the current asking price. I never intended this thread to be a "begging" thread, even if it has been interpreted that way (or maybe I just got trolled!)

Nope, all I was saying is "This is how much these cards are personally worth to me."

They don't have to listen nor lower prices. I know they'll do what's best for their business, as they should. The thread is pointless. Agreed! Let's have a group hug, now.

I agree with everything in this post apart from the bit I've highlighted bold. 7850's are worth their asking price for sure. I paid £230 for my 6950 back in January and now look what I can spend for that performance, 150 quid!

And like I said, I'd be happy to pay £150 for a Giga or MSI card.

My 460 was £150, and that card probably cost more to manufacture and there was probably less margin in it than the 7850s. And it had a nice custom cooler.

£150 is fine, for a good 7850, not a HIS with a jet engine cooler :p

Well they don't sell the windforce 7850 anyway but that cooler carries a premium as it's excellent at cooling and being quiet. I'd imagine the MSI will go on sale soon though so you may be in luck :D

There's absolutely no chance the windforce 7950 will be hitting £200 any time soon :p

Agreed. Which is why I'd take "any 7950" at £200. If I'm going all out for speed, then I'll accept the trade-off with noise (in my head this makes sense).

But also I'd trade some speed for silence, which is why I'll either take any 7950 or a nice, quiet 7850. My logic is probably hard to understand, I'll accept that much. It might not even be logical :p

I'd take a noisy 7950 over a whisper quiet 7850 any day but that's just me, as long as it's just a loud woosh and not a whine coming from the card it doesn't bother me :D

If any 7970 hits £249.99 or lower before 23rd Feb I will probably buy it and then myfiance will kill me and cancel our wedding. If after that date then yippee I can wait til after the wedding to be in only slight trouble.

Well having seen some (rumoured) details about the HD 8000 series, I'm happy to wait, if prices don't fall any more. And obviously if people are buying at these prices, there is no need for them to fall.

Bu the 8000 series looks very promising. Could finally be a great mid-range card to give a really "wow" upgrade over what I've currently got.
