Just seen the SAS?

Just left the tube this morning (Moorgate) and was wandering down to work, about to cross the road, when a police motorcyclist went through the red light and stopped. He stopped the traffic going both ways, and started telling pedestrians to not cross the road.

I could see a couple more bikes with lights flashing down the road a bit, so I thought the next thing that would come down would be a big black Daimler limo with some kind of official flag on the front speeding through.

But no...

Just three dark grey Audi's, each with four serious looking gentlemen in each one.

At least one of them was actively hiding his face from view too.

If anyone knows that area, they were coming from the direction of Old Street Tube, down past Finsbury Square, M&S... There is an army barracks in that direction too.

Did anyone else see them? I know a few on here work around the Old Street/Moorgate/Liverpool Street area...

I suppose they could have been armed police, but surely they'd have had their own flashing lights? And they didn't seem in *too* much of a hurry, just didn't want to stop at red lights...

They were probably the flying squad.

Yeah... was probably that... was cool to see though - missed the next green man whilst watching and had to wait for the traffic to get back to normal before I could carry on

Have seen it before, just not with 'normal' cars, and being so close to army barracks too... tis nice to imagine

With the increase in congestion you get more & more standard V.I.P.'s getting such treatment. More & likely a few visiting Diplomats & there cronies.

The blokes in the card didn't look like diplomats or VIPs tho, just casually dressed, nothing special about their appearances, the cars wern't especially flash tho - surely VIPs would have black Mercs or summat rather than grey Audi A4s... tho the one hiding his face (arm up, head down) looked like he spent a lot of time in the gym...

None of them were paying any attention to everything going on around them tho - all looking forward or down, ignoring everything else.

I'm going to guess that this was some official of some kind. Maybe olympic officials on a progress trip or something like that..

Nah... they wasn't the usual 'suits' in the cars... and the cars really wern't anything special, which if they were 'officials' of some kind I'd expect them to be in.
