Just shutting off

So I have a rather old overclocked system with a i7 3ghz overclocked to 4. Recently the system will randomly just turn off, Not shutdown but kill the power like I've just had a power cut. It only does it while overclocked however because of the age of it running it without overclocking isn't really an option. Any ideas on what might be failing ?

Very strange, I’m hearing this a lot more. I also have this issue and not resolved it yet.

Some days it works perfectly fine and others I can have 5 complete cut offs a day. It’s very random and there’s nothing in the event logs to indicate a problem.

No memory issues this has been scanned. It’s a new-ish logic board and it’s a FM2+ System with 16GB ram.

There’s no overclocking and still happens on a fresh install of windows.

Well it's not the RAM. Ordered new and it ran for 4 days then it died, Powered back on then died the next day. Then died the next day twice and today it's died a whopping 10 times. So it's either cpu, motherboard, gfx or psu. Might try psu next unless anyone has any ideas.

Similar issue on my i5 4670k.

Sometimes shutting off, other times just all graphics drivers crashing.

Reduced my OC from 4.2 to 4.0 and it was ok for 6 months, recently had to drop it to 3.9 as it started happening gain.

Swapped out psus and made no difference really.

Temps all seem ok for me but am going to look at redoing thermal paste at some point soon to see if that makes a difference.

Otherwise im flat out of ideas. Just waiting for an aio cooler to arrive before can start new build and relegate this to a plex server.
