Hi folks
So we now have Sky fibre broadband (FTTC). However, the router they have given us is not that great. It only supports 802.11g and the range is not all that great. I am now looking for a not too expensive N standard router.

Do you guys know if I'll need a cable router? The way mine is set up is that its connected to the openreach modem, which plugs into an outlet in the wall.

I was thinking this router would be a good option.

Need to be careful with replacing your Sky router. Sky seem to use a non-standard method of authentication (MER as opposed to PPoE)

Have a look at www.skyuser.co.uk, there's a list of routers that have been tested to work with Sky fibre

Ok, thanks for the heads up

Where about on the site does it have the list? I cant find it.

Also, couldnt I just connect a router to the sky hub via ethernet and just use it as a wireless access point?

The sky hub does support Wireless N but has a limitation of not being able to support G and N simultaneously. If you have any G devices connected the router won't ramp up to N at any time. It's also only 2.4GHz.
