Just upgraded my pc, can I use the old one as a server/nas?

Is this worthwhile considering? Old pc is a q8300 with 4gb ram.

I have a 1tb LG nas right now but its always full and I keep having to swap stuff about (films & TV mostly)
I also have a 320gb on a rasp pi running squeezebox-server for tunes.

I'd like to have one solution for the lot that wont cost me the earth (ie nout :)).
I also have 3 green wd drives, 2 1tb and a 500gb as well as a 60gb ssd for an os.
I'd like to run this headless too; it will go under the stairs out of the way.

Power consumption is a worry for me, so will something like freenas power up and down when asked over LAN, and will the disks be happy enough?
Should I look at something else?

that processor from what i remember is power hugry, but you probabbly wouldnt pay more then £30 for the year to run that machine with those drives.
specialy by getting the drives to spin down when not accessed.
