Hi all,

I bought an 8800GTX (an EVGA ASC3 KO one)

Sat it in my machine (see sig) and when I boot the machine although windows starting (I can hear the XP logon sound in my headphones) I can't see anything on screen.

I'm using a DVI to VGA Converter as I'm on a CRT that only has a VGA connector. I though maybe my PSU isn't enough (Tagan 580w Modular jobbie) but it does meet the cards power requirements, the card requires atleast 30A on the 12v Rail - the PSU does 35A on combined 12v rails. I tried a 700w PSU to make sure and surely enough I still get no signal to the monitor (goes into power save after a few seconds).

My motherboard is on the most recent BIOS revision I can find. Unfortunately I cannot try the card in any other systems as it literally does not fit in any other case in the house.

Is there anything I've missed as I really don't want to pay a load to get it back if it's not faulty :(

Help is much appreciated!!

Tried another monitor (if you can), and did you fully remove previous drivers before putting the GTX in, sounds like its going to a res that the monitor doesn't support, hence why its going into standby.

You probably know it doesn't use 30A, more like 13A. The 30A is a generic system value, a 580W Tagan is more than enough. Does your motherboard have another x16 slot? Both PCIe connectors on? Tried both DVI connectors and adapters?

I have another CRT but this is on a fresh install of XP SP2, unless the card boots to a non standard res on a clean install I'm not sure if this is the cause of the problem :(

The motherboard does have 3 PCI-E slots, I'll try the other two. I tried the both DVI connectors on the card with two differant adapters - I'll try the other ports now and post what happens :)
