Just so people know how it panned out... paid the £300 under protest with two stunning police officers as witnesses.

Got the car back with no drama as they were there. But even with them there he was saying things like "you need to take him away from me" in a threatening manner like he was thinking about kicking off again.

What has annoyed me is that he said "and you've got kids haven't you?" implying that I need to be careful about that fact.

I said "please don't bring my family into this" and he said "you started it"

Really grown up of him :/

Anyways got my car back will be pressing charges for the assault and taking him to court over the money as they haven't even done the job properly.

Again, I can't deter people from using them enough but please no silly behaviour.

I need to make something completely clear here, although they are complete scum I cannot and do not condone any behaviour which in any way affects them.

People making prank phone calls etc is completely unnecessary and I want to make it 100% clear that I have not had any part in this kind of idiotic behaviour and I had absolutely no intention of anyone else doing anything silly.

Anything that has been said or done to the garage is the actions solely of the person doing it and I have not been involved or aware of any of it.

I posted asking for advice and nothing more.

Thanks,

Alex

I need people to read this but please no silly responses.

If this thread can be locked and left here a day or so to make sure i have made my point about stupid behaviour it would be appreciated.

Glad everything is starting to be sorted.

Hopefully this won't get locked and you can bump it as things progress.

I'm sure people understand you never wanted or asked for anything silly to happen and it's not your fault in the slightest.

What work have they not done correctly and will you be getting the car checked over for any other potential hidden damage?

Sounds like things got quite nasty, shame it sounds like a few keyboard warriors got involved when there wasn't any need.

Glad you got your car back though.

Stunning you say? Pics tbh!

And good luck getting the guy done - sucks that "professionals" can get away with those kind of business practices.

Yeah I am going to get the job re-done because they didn't fit a new oil feed pipe which has voided the warranty on the turbo. They are claiming that I told them to do this, but I took there advice as they said the pipe looked fine to them.

Either way I wanted it replaced really and will now have to get that done elsewhere to make sure the warranty can be honoured.

Good to hear you got it back in the end and are pressing charges against the scum that they are. Did the police say anything when he casually threatened your family?

Keep us updated with the outcome when he gets charged.

For Mr.Squirrel

Garage overcharges for work.

Op doesn't want to pay the extra.

Garage blocks op's car in.

Motors offers typical advice, some serious... some not so - stand and bang, mac10 3mins etc.

Op goes back to garage, gets assaulted.

Google bombing of garage (is that the correct term??) commences.

that's about it I think, up until this thread.

What are you talking about? Some back story would be good for those of us not in the know.

Long story short car booked into garage for a new (reconditioned?) turbo to be fitted. Quote over the phone was £180. Car done and garage owner says it's £300 - argument over payment and garage owner says £300 or you're not getting your car back (so he parks a transit in front of his car). Arguing continues ... Guru heads over and gets assaulted - police involved and don't really care (audio was taped when assault happened).

I read most of the last thread, but not all.

Glad you've at least got your car back OP - hope they get was they deserve though!

So you paid £300 (£120 more than you were quoted) and the job still hasn't been done?

Glad you got the car back. I don't think anyone thought you were condoning such action towards the garage. Unfortunately there are some stupid people on this forum which has probably made your situation worse.

Been watching this over the last day and tbh i would be making a complaint towards the police asap over the way its been delt with there end. Really glad you managed to get your car back even though you had to pay the full price. I would be in 2 minds if id go any further with the getting the money back side as he sounds like a right nut job and the police dont seem bothered at all maybe put that bit down to a life lesson? but id really push for the assault side. Just hope the next garage is a bit better ;)

You want to try and claim back the costs of having the work done correctly as well as any inspection costs so that you are not further out of pocket.

Short version:
Got ripped off by a local garage
Got assaulted by one of them when I asked why
Police involved
Payed over the odds under protest just to get my car back as they held it to ransom
I am yet to be interviewed by police.

This thread is just to let people know that I don't condone any silly behaviour towards the garage.
