Before i start im not an amd/ati fanboy just a tech junkie, that out of the way here it goes---
I did have all intel before hand and i am baffled, why is the spider platform so awesome for gaming ?, it sucks azz for encoding and editing etc.. but gaming, WOW a real noticable difference in performance and the fusion program aswell as the auto clocking programs are really cool, anyone else made the transition lately ?

Would i be correct in saying that the Intel CPU's are proving to be much better chips than the AMD offerings, but in graphic card terms ATI are better bang for buck...especially at higher resolutions?

The AMD platform, while quick, is slower than Intel for gaming. You would get more performance from Intel + ATI than AMD + ATI.

Enjoy your rig though, i'm sure it screams. :)

I've been AMD/ATI all my life, and I'm just putting together my first Intel/Nvidia system. Should be an interesting comparison.

More or less, yes. ATI certainly give you more bang for buck.

Intel cpu's are a lot better for gaming too.

Because Intel doesn't make gaming graphic cards.
Equip it with gaming graphic card and Intel buries AMD to bottom of hole and makes road over it.

(that's fastest AMD quad vs. Intel's low end)[/url]

(but absolute win in power hogging)
