Just when I was starting to not hate ubisoft.....

Hello all,

So I bought farcry 3, was hoping to play some this weekend but it looks like the gods of gaming think its not to be

Every time I install farcry 3 it tells me that multicommon.dat is corrupt and it cant finish installing :/ I tried googling it and there are loads of people in the same situation but no solution beyong "pirate it troll lol lol".

Has anyone encountered this issue and managed to fix it? Normally im not someone to rage about things like this but it doesnt sound like ubisoft give a toss. Makes me want to just torrent their games in the future.

How are you installing it?

From retail DVD or downloading from Uplay or Steam?

I'm just installing from this link (I just got it through UPlay too but the download was terrible so on the advice given for ac3 I used this website and it downloads it directly from ubi). I'll report back if the game loads for me...

I had this, verified the install with the client and it sorted itself out.

Just wait till you get to trying to play multiplayer. Cant join my friends games without uplay overlay running. Starting with uplay overlay running crashes the game. Starting the game in safe mode disables the uplay overlay. WHUT?
Come on Ubisoft you require a feature that you admit is so broken that "safe mode" disables it?

Mine works perfectly from that website - just managed to get through the opening cut scenes and into the game.

Thanks i'll give it a go.

Before this, I didnt really mind the uplay thing, kinda liked the idea of achievements earnings points that can be used to unlock stuff. This.....changed my mind completely. If I cant get this working by the end of the weekend I will just torrent ubisoft games in the future!

I've just lost 4 hours to the game, and haven't gone any further than the first mission - don't suppose anyone can hint as to where a good location for boars is around the first area? I can't seem to find the initial farm where he takes you to, and I can find many many more pigs than boars!

When you zoom in on the map, it shows you different symbols depending on the animal that you can hunt there. Make a hunters tonic thing using yellow flowers and it will highlight where animals are hiding

The animals are all over the place when I'm wondering around, hunting is like a massacre.
