Justify a custom loop

Sleep deprivation may explain the existence of the thread :)

I can't make out your argument Hotwired. You disbelieve the prices I paid for my system, or you think the best approach is to get a H50 and rip it apart, leaving yourself with poor quality radiator, pump and waterblock alongside some nonstandard tubing?

Bubo makes a fair point about air coolers being replaced as time goes on. When did the TRUE come out? It was before my time, so I've no idea

I was replying to Bubos post. Not sure what angle you're coming from.

I also said
Not worth it within the warranty period ofc unless you really wanted to.

In other words... you can run it as normal within the warranty as maintenance and tinkering is irrelevant when you can get the entire unit replaced. But after the warranty of 2 years there is nothing stopping you from treating it as a normal cooling loop, replacing the tubing and in fact unscrewing the block or pump for maintenance.

Or not. If it's still working and you trust it.

IF we're honest, it's a simple case of budget.. not a case of value for money..

If you are serious about overclocking your pc, you're going to set yourself a limit and tailor your build to the set limit, or maybe a little over if you like shiny things like me.

If you buy good hardware you're gonna want great cooling.. average hardware average cooling and cheap hardware cheap cooling..

mismatching your product quality is probably the biggest waste of money you're going to encounter.

I would say the H50 is for those who want a moderate 3.8-4ghz overclock on a decent system.. a custom build is for people who want to pull the best they can out of the chip theyve got..

As said above.. you're either going to have your mind set on one or the other, so having a thread like this is pointless since your mind is already essentially made up..
Right now all I've seen for 2 pages is you arguing the merits of an h50 because it's cheaper.. so if you have a cheap setup get the h50.. if you have aspirations go make a custom build.. it's that simple.

If you believe this then you need to learn how to lie, because i know from this that you have not read the whole thread.

I read the entire thread, i was reading between the lines.. you have asked people to justify a the cost of a custom loop, they gave you an answer and you gave a reactionary defensive response, to me this says that you want an h50, or you want some comfort in the way of someone talking you into a custom loop project..

As I said, if you are worried about money then get an h50, if you want performance then the custom loop is clearly justified, now stop trolling.

******** social workers.

PS come to my house and acuse me of trolling to my face.

Hmm, I got to agree with Arachnae here. As I said earlier, if the OP wants an H50 just go buy one. but don't ask the custom water-coolers to endorse it.

H50 = Vauxhall Corsa VXR (Compact, cheap, high performance but only really capable of carrying two people at 140mph)

Small Custom Loop (PA120.2) = BMW M3 (High performance, capable of carrying 4 people at 155mph but rather more money than the Corsa VXR)

Big Custom Loop (PA140.4) = Audi RS6 Avant (Even more money, but capable of carrying 7 people at not far off 200mph)

I've had a look at a few of moremoney's recent posts and I have to say I'm not really sure why (s)he's here. And if (s)he tells me where they live I'll gladly come around and accuse them of trolling to her/his face.

As for the supposed 'comparative' loop in the original post I would say that something like an XSPC RS120 (£18), XSPC X200 Res/Pump Combo (£25), EK Supreme LT (£30) and £10 worth of barbs and 3/8" hose would give an extendable, better performing, loop than the H50 for less than £85. Swap in an RS240 (£23) or RS360 (£35) for significantly better performance but still under £100.

If you want to email me i am sure we can arrange a meet.

Even tho i am supprised by this response.

Well i have ordered parts for a custom loop.

I am not, and never was surre about the evaporation of a kit lasting two years at optimal settings.

I wouldn't put it past them to have used less porous tubing, more effective seals and a coolant mix which evaporates less readily than what custom builds normally have.

Nevertheless, good luck with the loop.

You really should read the OP better, then you would seee that it is not a question of which is better than a h50

Probably the best answer in two days.

Why wait so long?

Umm.

I thought that was clear from the way they DID put a 2 year warranty on it.

If they hadn't taken substantial steps to seal their unit they'd lose money like water through a sieve.

My origional post never compared a custom loop to the H50.

I was just askin................

is a custom loop worth the expense?

In comparative terms.

Quite possibly the most bad tempered guy on this forum? Not really going to get you helpful answers. I'd hate to catch you in a bad mood.
