Justin Bieber has caused outrage with his message in a guestbook at the Anne Frank Museum, saying he hoped the Holocaust victim would have been a fan.

The 19-year-old pop idol wrote: "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber."

Hahahaha. I can't decide if people should just lighten up, and that this is actually pretty funny, or that he really is a complete and utter egocentric tool. Both, I think.

I don't see the issue....he wasn't disrespectful or rude, quite the opposite. Is this even a story to be honest, let alone one that needs discussing.

excellent, but why?

The phrase about not looking gift horses in the mouth springs immediately to mind... but sadly it appears not to be true from a quick search, it seems that he had a ropey time in the UK early in March and vowed not to come back but he's since tweeted that he intends to return. He was destined to disappoint people whichever course of action he takes.

It's a pretty daft message to put in the guestbook but it's not unpleasant in any particular way - I'd like to credit him with the self-awareness to think he's poking a bit of fun at his (recent) reputation for self-absorption but I'm possibly extending the benefit of the doubt a bit too far there.

Just laughably inappropriate :p

She was a 15 year old girl, I suspect she may well have been a fan of his music, most of them seem to be...I don't think he has done anything worth criticising him over, he simply said 'she was inspiring and hopefully she would have been a fan'...it was a guest book comment by a teenager, and not a disrespectful one at that.
